The pro-life youth organization Students for Life of America published yesterday on its YouTube channel a one-minute video showing the pro-life march of this year in fast motion:

The first march was held on January 22, 1974, a year after the US Supreme Court legalized abortion in the country through its ruling in the Roe v. Wade case. Its founder was Nellie Jane Gray, veteran of World War II and employee of the federal government, she left her job to dedicate herself to the defense of the right to live of unborn children. To this day, the March for Life is the largest pro-life demonstration in the world.

Trump addressed the demonstrators through television

In its 45 years of existence, this has been the first March for Life to which a US president in charge has addressed a live speech on television to the demonstrators (in 1987 the President Ronald Reagan addressed a speech to the march by telephone, promising to help "to end this national tragedy"). Last Friday, Donald Trump connected with the massive demonstration via satellite from the White House, accompanied by Vice President Mike Pence. In his speech (you can read the transcription in the White House website), Trump lamented that his country is on the same level as China and North Korea in the lack of protection of unborn children, and announced his decision to revoke Obama's order to force to the states to finance abortions. "Under my administration, we will always defend the very first right in the Declaration of Independence, and that is the right to life," the president said. In addition, through a statement published on Friday on the website of the White House, Trump announced the creation of a pro-life national day in the US, to be held on January 22.
