'Auschwitz': An Exhibition in Madrid Shows until June 17 What No One Should Forget

JUN 17 20:00

On December 1, 2017 an exhibition was inaugurated in Madrid, on which I am reading very good comments from people who have already visited it. It is titled "Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away", and can be visited at the Arte Canal Exhibition Center in Madrid, at Paseo de la Castellana 214, until June 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The exhibition, co-produced by the co-produced by the State Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland, shows a collection of 600 objects that bear witness to the horror lived in the German extermination camp. The exhibition includes many objects and an extensive photographic and audiovisual material that had never before been shown to the public.

Among the victims of the Holocaust that figure in the exhibition is Czesława Kwoka, the Polish girl of 14 years of whom I spoke to you here a year ago. She had the prisoner number 26947, arrived at Auschwitz on December 13, 1942 and died there on March 12, 1943. I liked to see that the exhibition recalls in its victims section a group that many forget: between 70,000 and 75,000 Poles killed in this extermination camp, to which must be added one million Jews, 21,000 Gypsies, 14,000 Soviet prisoners of war and a group of between 10,000 and 15,000 people of various kinds (including Jehovah's Witnesses and homosexuals). My most meaningful memory for all of them.
