The Russian invasion of Ukraine is being the scene of an increasingly widespread use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by both sides.
In the last few hours, images of one of the uses of these aircraft have been released: the so-called kamikaze drones. On April 13, the United States announced the shipment to Ukraine of 300 AeroVironment Switchblade unmanned aerial systems, a small-sized UAV for infantry units, which can be used as a reconnaissance drone and also as an attack “suicide drone”, by carrying an explosive charge in its fuselage.
In the aforementioned images, the Ukrainian Special Forces show an attack with one of those kamikaze drones -everything seems to indicate that it is the Switchblade- against a Russian T-72B3 tank, whose crew was outside it at the time of the impact. In the final part of the video, which shows the images recorded by the drone’s camera, the moments before the impact have been omitted.
