She attended a municipal council meeting in severe pain after a day of work

Minister Óscar Puente's vile message against a Vox councilwoman who is ill

Socialist Óscar Puente, Pedro Sánchez’s Minister of Transport, continues to display his lack of scruples on his Twitter account.

The minister, known for his habit of insulting political rivals, journalists, and anyone who does not act to the PSOE's liking, posted a message yesterday taking aim at a Vox councilwoman in San Vicente del Raspeig (Alicante), citing a news report by Cadena SER that criticized the municipal representative, Yolanda Iborra, for being "asleep, reclining, and eating." The socialist-aligned broadcaster itself published the following information:

"Vox sources have informed Radio Alicante that the councilwoman is suffering from a health issue that has caused her severe pain for several years and that she is scheduled to undergo surgery this Monday, following several months of treatment."

Yesterday, the Vox municipal branch in San Vicente del Raspeig noted:

"Media manipulation is tarnishing the work and effort of public officials. She suffers from a stomach hernia and is scheduled for surgery in three days; she endured six hours of sitting. She leaned back for a few moments to relieve the pressure and pain. All our support and strength go to our colleague."

"My obligation as a public official comes before my personal rights," stated Iborra in remarks reported by the local Vox channel. "Despite my illness, and demonstrating my commitment to the people of San Vicente, I attended the plenary session."

After contacting the Vox councilwoman, LaBandera.es noted that, despite the severe pain she was experiencing, prior to the municipal session she had already worked a seven-hour shift as a teacher, followed by nearly six hours of work as a councilwoman without a break—as no recess was taken during the session. The outlet added: "after hours of work and suffering the pain caused by her condition, the councilwoman leaned back in her seat for a few moments." This is the incident that Cadena SER turned into a news story.

Without showing concern for what was happening to Iborra, Óscar Puente did not want to miss the chance to take a dig at a political rival; he cited the news report from SER and posted this message on his Twitter account: "Let's see. The leader's stamp is reflected across the entire organization."

Vox's national Twitter account responded to the minister by alluding to his political responsibility for the Adamuz train accident—which resulted in 46 deaths—a serious incident that occurred in January and for which the Socialist minister has refused to resign:

"Our councilor is ill; she is in severe pain and awaiting surgery. Yet you, the butcher of Adamuz, didn't care about using her image to mock her. You have to be a despicable person to do that."

Pedro Sánchez, his government, and his party are seeking to push tensions within Spanish society to the limit—perhaps because they know that, under normal circumstances, they stand very little chance of success in the upcoming general election. That tactic apparently includes attacking a political rival who is ill and who attended a municipal council session after a full day of work, despite suffering from severe pain. As of this writing, Óscar Puente has neither apologized for his message nor withdrawn it. These are the Socialists who now presume to lecture us on "humanity."
