-----------

These last two years I took part in a world contest, the Blog Action Day, which is done every October 15th and in that thousands of bloggers think about a certain topic. In 2007 it was the environment and in 2008 the poverty. Far from debating on a matter, in 2009 they propose to "support" an idea and a few already prearranged conclusions: the existence of a climatic change that "it threatens to cause famine, flooding, war, and millions of refugees". In line with these ideas, they ask the bloggers to "expressing support for finding a sustainable solution to the climate crisis". That is to say, neither reflections nor debates, but support and militancy in a few concrete theses.

In fact, the video of presentation of the Blog Action Day 2009, which you can see above these lines, refers to climate change as "the most urgent threat facing our planet". In this economic crisis resulting in millions of human beings to unemployment and poverty, with more than 1,000 million people hungry and more than 1,500 million living in countries under dictatorships (23% of humanity), present climate catastrophism as the greatest and most urgent concern of humanity seems to me a joke.

Finally, as I am concerned I will not participate in Blog Action Day 2009. So yes, I suggest one thing to the promoters of this event: if you want to propose militancy on specific concepts, propose next year a Blog Action Day to defend the rights of individuals, who are downtrodden not only in dictatorships but also in many countries that call themselves democratic, and whose defense leads to disqualification of all kinds, even by people who claim to moderate, pluralistic and tolerant of. That is really an uncomfortable reality, not some propaganda ecocatastrophist used, in fact, to restrain more than a few of those rights.
