Ruinas del Castillo de Mota del Marqu\u00e9s, en la provincia de Valladolid. Construido en el siglo XIII, durante el reinado de Alfonso X El Sabio, esta fortaleza fue uno de los escasos establecimientos de la Orden Teut\u00f3nica en Espa\u00f1a. Precisamente a ese origen germ\u00e1nico se debe su Torre del Homenaje de planta circular y rematada con una c\u00fapula, algo muy poco frecuente en la Pen\u00ednsula Ib\u00e9rica. La poblaci\u00f3n en la que estaba este enclave militar teut\u00f3nico se llamaba originalmente Santib\u00e1\u00f1ez de Mota, llam\u00e1ndose Mota de Toro a partir del siglo XV y Mota del Marqu\u00e9s a partir del siglo XVI. La poblaci\u00f3n fue cedida en 1222 a la Encomienda de la Orden de los Caballeros Teut\u00f3nicos de Prusia por Beatriz de Suabia, esposa del rey castellano Fernando III El Santo. En 1810, durante la Guerra de la Independencia, el castillo fue destruido por los invasores franceses. Hoy en d\u00eda s\u00f3lo quedan las ruinas de su Torre del Homenaje y algunos vestigios de sus murallas. Hoy en d\u00eda el castillo se puede ver desde la autov\u00eda A-6. En febrero de 2010 su muralla oriental result\u00f3 da\u00f1ada a causa de unas fuertes lluvias. Con posterioridad se inici\u00f3 un proceso de restauraci\u00f3n del castillo, por eso en la imagen se ven andamios junto a la torre.<\/p>\n
