Estatua del arriero Pedro Mato, en lo alto de la Catedral de Astorga (Le\u00f3n). Lleva el traje t\u00edpico de maragato, pues Astorga es la capital de la comarca leonesa de la Maragater\u00eda. La estatua original, de 1642 y expuesta actualmente en el Museo Provincial de Zamora, fue reemplazada por esta r\u00e9plica en 1987. Dice una leyenda que durante la Guerra de Independencia, las tropas napole\u00f3nicas dispararon contra esta estatua pensando que era un vig\u00eda, y al no acertarle y ver que ni siquiera se alteraba ante los disparos, el temor invadi\u00f3 a los franceses ante lo que cre\u00edan que era una muestra de valor. La estatua est\u00e1 dotada de una veleta y de un pararrayos.<\/p>\n

\nStatue of carrier Pedro Mato, at the top of the Cathedral of Astorga (Le\u00f3n). Wears the costume of maragato, as Astorga is the capital of the Leonese district of Maragater\u00eda. The original statue, of 1642 and currently exposed in the Provincial Museum of Zamora, was replaced by this replica in 1987. A legend says that during the Spanish War of Independence, the Napoleonic troops fired on the statue, thinking it was a lookout, and failing to hit and do not even upset at the shootings, fear invaded the French because they believed was a sample of value.
