This party has 6 of 11 councilors. The other ediles of the consistory are of the Basque Nationalist Party. <strong>The town council's argument for overthrowing the monument is that it was Francoist<\/strong>, simply because it was erected during General Franco's regime to pay homage to those who fought there during the Spanish Civil War, and it was in a bad condition (due to the absolute abandonment to which it submitted the own city council).<\/p>\n<p><big>They had organized a party to celebrate the demolition of the cross<\/big><\/p>\n<p>Last Friday the city council <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/larrabetzun\/photos\/a.751811211607344.1073741828.751496164972182\/1261060610682399\/?type=3\">published a proclamation<\/a> announcing the demolition for this Monday at 10:30 am. <strong>The municipal government organized the demolition as if it were a party, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/larrabetzuudala\/status\/884326041401085952\">placing a Catalan separatist flag and a Basque flag<\/a><\/strong> next to the demolition zone. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GontzaLoza\/status\/884329619243008000\">The audience attended with <em>ikurri\u00f1as<\/em> (basque flags) to the place<\/a> <strong>and intoned the communist hymn \"The International\" <\/strong>before the beginning of the demolition.
