On Thursday, July 15, 2004, at 1:09 in the morning, Counting Stars began to walk. In principle it was a rather literary blog and that first post was about stars<\/a>, how not?<\/p>\n

A friend told me last night that I could do a book of entries and publish it on Amazon. On the one hand it would be a complicated task: I have written in this blog almost 11,000 entries<\/strong> (10,813, to be more accurate). And on the other, I always wanted the readers to access what I write without having to pay anything. Besides, it would be a macaronic book. In addition to thousands of entries in Spanish, I have also written here entries in Galician<\/strong> (I have in mind to group them in some way when there is time). In February I started the English edition<\/a>, in which I have already published 56 posts, and it is in diapers an Polish edition<\/a> (I am having more and more readers in Witold Pilecki's homeland, and in April a Polish newspaper mentioned this blog<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Of course, Counting Stars will continue, God willing.<\/strong> In the last ten years it has received 12.7 million visits and today it continues to have a considerable audience: by 2017, the blog has already received more than 1.5 million visits.<\/strong> Besides God, who has compensated me for my many defects with a certain ease to write, that success I owe to many people who have helped me in this long way, and that is why I try to do the visits that come to this blog can also know other blogs and related initiatives that also merit attention.<\/strong> I know what it costs to start a blog and that's why I like to lend a hand to those who start. So far I have linked in the section Good ideas<\/em> 680 opinion articles in Spanish, 18 in English and 1 in Polish that have been published in other blogs<\/strong>, media and websites of various associations. On the other hand, and since I consider myself an active citizen, I have also linked 167 initiatives in Spanish and 8 in English<\/strong>, with which the readers of Counting Stars have been able to help improve our society a little and even save lives. Any SEO expert will shake hands in the head seeing that I send so many visitors out, instead of trying to stay here, but if this blog was locked in itself, it would not be Counting Stars.<\/p>\n

I do not want to finish this entry without dedicating a space to the acknowledgments.<\/strong> I begin with my parents, who are my most loyal readers, and my brothers, who often bring me content and ideas for entries that I would never have thought of. In the sibling section, my friend Isaac<\/a>, who besides hosting this blog on his server, is almost always aware of any failure or attack. If all web publishers had a system administrator like him, they would sleep much more quietly. I also thank my friend Angel Manuel<\/a>, not only for his translations and his diffusion of this blog, but also for being the best bridge between Contando Estrellas and Poland, a country that I admire. And of course, my special thanks to all those who share my entries on Twitter and Facebook<\/strong>, making it possible to reach many people, and all followers and subscribers of the blog, both by email and social media.<\/p>\n

I complete these lines with a few verses from J.R.R. Tolkien<\/strong> that I have repeated many times in this blog, because they express very well the spirit with which I began to write it:<\/p>\n
