Two F-15 fighters of the 493d Fighter Squadron (Grim Reapers) of the United States Air Force, based at RAF Lakenheath (United Kingdom) and temporarily deployed at the \u0160iauliai Air Base (Lithuania) in a Baltic Air Police (BAP) mission, received an alert Scramble after detect two Russian Sukhoi Su-30 fighters flying without a flight plan and without transmitting the appropriate codes required by air traffic control. These situations are repeated with some frequency due to the passage of Russian aircraft in the direction of the Kaliningrad enclave.
