Abascal qualifies Poland as \"admirable nation in the defense of his freedom\"<\/big><\/p>\n
The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, traveled to Poland accompanied by Iv\u00e1n Espinosa de los Monteros, the vice-secretary of international relations of Vox, who knows the Slavic country well, since he was working there for a few years. On Tuesday night, Abascal announced his presence in Poland<\/a>, calling it \"an admirable nation in defense of their freedom and national identity.<\/strong> A nation that has survived Nazi and Communist totalitarianism and has banned both, rightly so, because millions of Poles, Jews and Catholics were victims of totalitarianism.\"<\/em> That same night, through its website, the Polish Radio gave news of the meeting scheduled the next day between Abascal and the president of the PiS, Jaros\u0142aw Kaczy\u0144ski<\/a>: \"The main theme of the talks will be the future alliance and cooperation in the European Parliament\"<\/em>, the station said citing Tomasz Por\u0119ba as source, a leader of the ruling party in that country. During the visit the Vox's leaders were accompanied by the Polish MEP of the PiS Kosma Z\u0142otowski<\/strong>, who on 6 March was the host of Javier Ortega Smith, general secretary of Vox, at the conference he gave in the European Parliament on the separatist coup in Catalonia.<\/p>\n Vox's leaders were received by the Polish Government<\/big><\/p>\n On Wednesday morning, Abascal and Espinosa de los Monteros were received at the Prime Minister's Chancellery, so the Vox's leaders' journey acquired the characteristics of a high-level institutional visit.<\/strong> There they met with Adam Lipi\u0144ski, Secretary of State of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, and \u0141ukasz Schreiber, Secretary of State responsible for relations with the Cortes. According to Schreiber<\/a>, the meeting was also attended by Marek Suski, head of the Political Cabinet of the Prime Minister of Poland, and the aforementioned MEP Kosma Z\u0142otowski. As noted by Vox<\/a>, in that meeting they \"have addressed issues such as the new reformulation of Europe, the recovery of the values \u200b\u200bon which the concept of Europe was founded and the importance that should have Nation-States in the continent.\"<\/em><\/strong> Some issues in which PiS and Vox defend very similar approaches and equally critical to the current drift of the EU.<\/p>\n PiS wants to \"defend Christian values together with Vox\"<\/big><\/p>\n Following the meeting at the Prime Minister's Chancellery, the Vox's leaders were received at the Foreign Ministry Chancellery<\/strong>, where they met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Policy, Szymon Szynkowski vel S\u0119k. Vox has indicated that they dealt with him \"issues related to the future of the European Union, the control of illegal immigration, the relationship with NATO and the defense of nation-states.\"<\/em> Finally, at the end of the morning, Abascal and Espinosa de los Monteros went to the national headquarters of PiS<\/strong>, on Nowogrodzka Street, where Jaros\u0142aw Kaczy\u0144ski received them. MEP Z\u0142otowski, who also attended this meeting, said: \"We want to defend Christian values \u200b\u200bjointly with Vox in the European Parliament<\/strong>, and strengthen the role of national states in the EU.\"<\/em> Abascal's assessment<\/a> was very similar: \"Weaving alliances to defend the only possible Europe, based on respect for the sovereignty of its States and Christian cultural roots.\"<\/em><\/strong> As it seems, there is a good harmony between PiS and Vox.<\/p>\n The options of Vox if it wants to join a group in the European Parliament<\/big><\/p>\n Prawo i Sprawiedliwo\u015b\u0107 (Law and Justice) is part of the Group of European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), which currently consists of 74 MEPs from various right-wing parties.<\/strong> At the moment, the parties that contribute the most MEPs to this group are PiS and the British Conservative Party, both with 19 representatives. The main obstacle to the possible integration of Vox into the ECR would be the Flemish separatist party Nieuw-Vlaamse Alliantie (N-VA)<\/strong>, which has been supporting the Catalan separatists. One of the deputies of the N-VA, Mark Demesmaeker, joined<\/a> the separatists of BNG and ERC in the protest they organized against the aforementioned conference offered by Javier Ortega in Brussels. The other option is the Group of the Europe of Nations and Freedom (ENL)<\/strong>, led by the French National Rassemblement of Marine Le Pen. However, as in the ECR, in the ENL there is another Flemish separatist party, the Vlaams Belang<\/strong>, which also supports Catalan separatism.<\/a> It is very unlikely that Vox was admitted to the group of the European People's Party (EPP), its main competitor in Spain, the Popular Party, is a member of this group. Another possibility is that Vox puts the exclusion of the Flemish separatists as a condition for joining the ECR.<\/strong> Right now the N-VA has 4 MEPs, but according to some polls, Vox could get 6 seats in the European Parliament<\/a>, which would allow it to position itself as the third ECR party.<\/p>\n ---<\/p>\n (Main photo: Vox.
