{"id":39888,"date":"2019-08-13T06:03:37","date_gmt":"2019-08-13T04:03:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=39888"},"modified":"2024-08-13T00:11:30","modified_gmt":"2024-08-12T22:11:30","slug":"karavirs-an-awesome-music-video-about-special-forces-from-the-baltic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2019\/08\/13\/karavirs-an-awesome-music-video-about-special-forces-from-the-baltic\/","title":{"rendered":"Karav\u012brs: an awesome music video about special forces from the Baltic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As lately I am talking a lot about Latvia in this blog, YouTube has included in my suggestions some videos of that Baltic country, including one that I bring you today.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2017\/06\/16\/janis-pinups-a-latvian-soldier-for-whom-the-second-world-war-finished-in-1995\/\">J\u0101nis P\u012bnups: a Latvian soldier for whom the Second World War finished in 1995<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2019\/07\/13\/a-nato-report-about-the-landing-of-the-spanish-marine-corps-in-latvia\/\">A NATO report about the landing of the Spanish Marine Corps in Latvia<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>In November of last year, the Latvian rock band <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCAw34Mo3REjEyeFZgI7EiQg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Refleksija<\/a> published <strong>a music video titled \"Karav\u012brs\" (Soldier), dedicated to the NBS SUV<\/strong>, that is, the Nacion\u0101lo Bru\u0146oto Sp\u0113ku Speci\u0101lo Uzdevumu Vien\u012bba (Special Task Force of the National Armed Forces). <strong>Usually known as SUV, it is an elite military unit founded on September 19, 1991<\/strong>, after the recovery of Latvian independence. It was initially formed as a Battalion attached to the Latvian Security Service. <strong>In 1994 it became dependent on the Naval Forces<\/strong>, in the style of the US Navy SEALs, and <strong>in 1999 it became an independent unit of the Armed Forces<\/strong>, in the style of Poland's special operations units. Very little is known about SUV operations, since <strong>their missions are secret.<\/strong> Despite having very small armed forces (they do not reach 15,000 troops), Latvia has participated in missions such as EUTM <strong>Mali<\/strong>, Operation Resolute Support in <strong>Afghanistan<\/strong> (where Latvia maintains 40 soldiers today: there have died four soldiers from that country), Operation Sophia in <strong>Libya<\/strong> and Operation Inherent Resolve in <strong>Iraq<\/strong> and <strong>Syria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48524680742_687093cc96_b.jpg\" style=\"width:661px; height:auto; border:2px solid #847767;\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">Left, the emblem of the SUV, formed by the <em>Senlatvie\u0161u Karav\u012bra<\/em> (ancient Latvian soldier, with a wolf skin) and the Aka or Double Cross, which represents the Earth and the Sun, experience and knowledge . As a curiosity, <strong>in the video appears an ancient Latvian warrior covered with a wolf's skin<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/latviansmilhistory.blogspot.com\/2009\/10\/nbs-specialo-uzdevumu-vieniba.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a warrior that appears on the emblem of the SUV<\/a>, on <a href=\"https:\/\/latvians.com\/index.php?en\/CFBH\/Zimes\/zimes-00-sheet.ssi\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Aka or Double Cross, a symbol formed by four intersecting stripes<\/a> that in the Latvian culture represents the Earth and the sun, experience and knowledge. <strong>The Aka is the best known SUV symbol.<\/strong> Their operators wear it in his beret and in the patch of his right
