{"id":44079,"date":"2021-03-26T21:19:38","date_gmt":"2021-03-26T20:19:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=44079"},"modified":"2026-03-26T08:20:18","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T07:20:18","slug":"spanish-parliament-refuses-to-condemn-the-crimes-of-nazism-and-communism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2021\/03\/26\/spanish-parliament-refuses-to-condemn-the-crimes-of-nazism-and-communism\/","title":{"rendered":"Spanish Parliament refuses to condemn the crimes of Nazism and Communism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This Thursday there was a vote in the Spanish Congress of Deputies that should cause scandal throughout the West, due to the position taken by the left.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2017\/12\/18\/the-more-than-100-million-deaths-that-communism-caused-divided-by-countries\/\">The more than 100 million deaths that communism caused, divided by countries<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2019\/05\/29\/from-tyrants-to-social-democrats-costumes-of-the-communism-in-the-old-marxist-europe\/\">From tyrants to social democrats: costumes of the communism in the old Marxist Europe<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p><big>An initiative was voted to sign the European condemnation of Nazism and Communism<\/big><\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/app.congreso.es\/AudiovisualCongreso\/audiovisualEmisionSemiDirecto?idLegislaturaElegida=14&codOrgano=400&codSesion=88\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">plenary session<\/a> of this March 25, Congress voted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congreso.es\/web\/guest\/busqueda-de-iniciativas?p_p_id=iniciativas&p_p_lifecycle=0&p_p_state=normal&p_p_mode=view&_iniciativas_mode=mostrarDetalle&_iniciativas_legislatura=XIV&_iniciativas_id=162\/000406\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an initiative of the Popular Party<\/a> (PP) that urged the Spanish Government <em>\"to adhere to the Resolution of the European Parliament of September 19, 2019 condemning Nazi and communist totalitarianisms.\"<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/TA-9-2019-0021_EN.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The resolution of the European Parliament can be read here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In that resolution, and by an overwhelming majority, the European Parliament denounced that <strong><em>\"the Nazi and communist regimes carried out mass murders, genocide and deportations<\/strong> and caused a loss of life and freedom in the 20th century on a scale unseen in human history\"<\/em>, <strong>and condemned <em>\"in the strongest terms the acts of aggression, crimes against humanity and mass human rights violations perpetrated by the Nazi, communist<\/strong> and other totalitarian regimes.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p><big>In the debate the socialists and the fa-left praised the communists<\/big><\/p>\n<p>The initiative of the PP was debated on Wednesday in the plenary session of the Spanish Parliament. In it, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2021\/03\/24\/psoe-y-ultraizquierda-ensalzan-a-criminales-y-antidemocratas-en-un-pleno-del-congreso\/\">the socialists and the extreme left openly extolled communism<\/a>, <strong>presenting the communists as freedom fighters<\/strong> and even defending, in the case of the Socialist Party - currently in government - a communist leader, Santiago Carrillo, who was implicated in war crimes, specifically in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2017\/11\/07\/the-names-of-the-50-children-killed-by-communists-in-the-paracuellos-massacre\/\">the Paracuellos massacre of 1936, in which some 5,000 political prisoners were murdered, including 50 children<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><big>This is what each of the parties voted<\/big><\/p>\n<p>The vote on that initiative took place yesterday. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congreso.es\/webpublica\/opendata\/votaciones\/Leg14\/Sesion088\/20210325\/Votacion001\/VOT_20210325142905.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Here you can see what each of the deputies voted.<\/a> <strong>154 deputies voted in favor of the condemnation:<\/strong> the 88 deputies from the <strong>Popular Party<\/strong>, the 52 deputies from the conservative party <strong>Vox<\/strong>, the 9 deputies from the center-left party <strong>Ciudadanos<\/strong>, as well as the deputies from the Mixed Group Pablo Cambronero (former deputy from Ciudadanos), Carlos Garc\u00eda Adanero (from <strong>Uni\u00f3n del Pueblo Navarro<\/strong>), Isidro Mart\u00ednez Oblanca (from <strong>Foro Asturias<\/strong>) and Ana Mar\u00eda Oramas (from <strong>Coalici\u00f3n Canaria<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>184 deputies voted against the condemnation.<\/strong> The most striking and shameful thing is that the representatives of the two groups that make up the Government of Spain voted in block against this condemnation: the 120 deputies of the <strong>Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE)<\/strong> and 34 deputies of the extreme left group <strong>Unidas Podemos<\/strong> (a coalition in which there are four deputies of the Communist Party of Spain, two of whom are ministers). <strong>Spain is the only country in the European Union that has communist ministers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition, <strong>the following deputies have also voted against the condemnation:<\/strong> the 13 deputies of the Republican Group (formed by the far-left Catalan separatist coalition <strong>ERC-Sobinaristes<\/strong>), 8 of the deputies of the Plural Group (specifically those belonging to the separatist parties <strong>BNG<\/strong> and <strong>Comprom\u00eds<\/strong>, 4 of the separatist deputies from <strong>Junts per Catalunya<\/strong> and 2 deputies from the far-left party <strong>M\u00e1s Pa\u00eds<\/strong>), the 5 deputies from the far-left Basque separatist party <strong>EH Bildu<\/strong>, and the deputies of the Mixed Group Pedro Quevedo Iturbe (from the nationalist party <strong>Nueva Canarias<\/strong>), Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Maz\u00f3n (from the <strong>Regionalist Party of Cantabria<\/strong>) and the two deputies of the far-left Catalan separatist coalition <strong>Candidatura d'Unitat Popular (CUP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, <strong>11 deputies abstained:<\/strong> the 4 deputies from the separatist formation <strong>Catalan European Democratic Party (PDECAT)<\/strong>, the 6 deputies from the separatist formation <strong>Basque Nationalist Party (PNV)<\/strong> and the deputy Tom\u00e1s Guitarte, from the constituency <strong>Teruel Existe<\/strong>. Podemos deputy Antonia Jover D\u00edaz was not present at the vote.<\/p>\n<p><big>Will the European Union say something about this refusal to condemn crimes of genocide?<\/big><\/p>\n<p>One wonders <strong>what the European Union will say<\/strong>. It has lashed out so harshly against the conservative governments of Hungary and Poland.
