Today Poland celebrates the 120th anniversary of the birth of Witold Pilecki, an officer in the Polish Army and one of the greatest heroes of World War II.<\/p>\n

A hero of the resistance against nazism who was assassinated by the communists<\/big><\/p>\n

As I already told you here, Pilecki was the only man who voluntarily entered Auschwitz<\/a>, as part of a mission commissioned by the Polish resistance to investigate and denounce what the Nazis were doing in that death camp. The report written by Pilecki was sent to the Polish Government in Exile, serving to reveal the Holocaust abroad<\/strong>. After fighting against the Germans, Pilecki joined the Polish anti-communist resistance against the new occupants of the country: the Soviets. After being arrested, on May 25, 1948, he was assassinated by the Communists.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The European Parliament mentioned him in 2019 in its condemnation of nazism and communism<\/big><\/p>\n

Although his figure is not well known outside of Poland, the name of Witold Pilecki appeared in the European Parliament resolution condemning the crimes of nazism and communism<\/a> in September 2019. Point 11 of that resolution asks the member countries of the Union European that \"for 25 May (the anniversary of the execution of the Auschwitz hero Rotamaster Witold Pilecki) to be established as International Day of Heroes of the Fight against Totalitarianism<\/strong>, which will be an expression of respect and a tribute to all those who, by fighting tyranny, demonstrated their heroism and true love for humankind, and will also provide future generations with a clear example of the correct attitude to take in the face of the threat of totalitarian enslavement.\"<\/em><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, in Spain the Government has not signed this petition<\/strong> and, furthermore, in March the members of the socialist-communist executive refused to sign this European condemnation of the crimes of nazism and communism<\/a>, in a scandalous parliamentary vote that highlights the dangerous drift that Spain is taking.<\/p>\n

A deputy from Vox remembers Pilecki in the Valencian Parliament<\/big><\/p>\n

One party that did support that condemnation was Vox, a member of the Group of European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) and a Spanish partner of the Law and Justice party that governs Poland. Precisely today a regional deputy from Vox, David Garc\u00eda, remembered Witold Pilecki in the Valencian Parliament<\/strong>, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of his birth. Garc\u00eda recalled that Pilecki \"was a tireless Polish fighter and was a war hero\"<\/em>, he mentioned his participation in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 carried out by the Polish resistance against the Germans, and he recalled his infiltration in Auschwitz and his murder, years later, at the hands of the communists.<\/strong> In addition, the Vox deputy has dedicated these words to Pilecki in Polish: \u201cCze\u015b\u0107 jego pami\u0119ci\u201d (Honor to his memory), which is the formula used in Poland to remember his fallen .<\/p>\n
