At the time of his death, <strong>all of Spain was confined because of the pandemic, so it was not possible to hold the funeral that a veteran soldier like Jerzy deserved.<\/strong> Last Sunday, May 27, the Polish Embassy in Madrid, the Poland First to Fight Historical-Cultural Association -of which Jerzy was an honorary member-, the Spanish-Polish Cultural Association Krakus of M\u00f3stoles and Polish citizens residing in Spain accompanied to the family of the deceased at <strong>a funeral and burial with honors<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=2272459316218477&id=215088251955604\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">whose images were published yesterday by the Poland First to Fight association<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51279756441_4d352585a5_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Before the burial, in the South Cemetery of Madrid,<strong> a funeral Mass was celebrated for Jerzy's eternal rest.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51279930668_d88ae43668_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At Mass, <strong>members of the Poland First to Fight association stood guard with the Polish National Flag<\/strong>, wearing uniforms like those worn by the Polish Army in 1939.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51279011097_94a5dd588a_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The funeral Mass and the burial were attended by <strong>the Polish Ambassador, Marzenna Adamczyk, and the Polish Defense Attach\u00e9, Colonel Robert Tkatczyk.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51279930538_c9437f1a32_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Mass was attended by <strong>the choir of the Krakus association.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51279930623_c61af30373_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Mass was held in the presence of the urn with Jerzy's ashes.<\/strong> A member of the Poland First to Fight association read a few words in memory and tribute to the deceased soldier.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51280779125_dd28d9b2a2_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After the funeral Mass, <strong>a funeral procession led by the Polish Flag escorted Jerzy's ashes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51280484654_edf71f4aea_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Another image of the funeral procession<\/strong>, which was well attended and shows the admiration and affection that many people felt for Jerzy.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51280484724_19f66b9a93_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Finally, <strong>Jerzy's ashes were buried in the cemetery<\/strong>, honoring the deceased members of Poland First to Fight.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51279011207_5f1d3de5a0_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The flower offerings to the deceased carried the colors of the Polish Flag<\/strong>, and included the National Coat of Arms and also the Kotwica, the insignia of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2017\/02\/14\/armia-krajowa-75-years-ago-was-founded-the-largest-resistance-movement-of-the-ww2\/\">Armia Krajowa<\/a>, the Polish resistance organization that Jerzy enlisted in 1942.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51280779145_b15d466fab_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>\"<strong>Within the pain of the loss, we have the small consolation of knowing that Jerzy has had the funeral of a soldier<\/strong>, and of having been able to contribute modestly to it,\"<\/em> the Poland First to Fight association said.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><big><font style=\"font-size:35px;\">Cze\u015b\u0107 jego pami\u0119ci!<\/font><\/big><br \/>\nHonor to his memory!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/49779062536_4b119cecf6_o.png\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:1px solid #ccc;\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jerzy Rad\u0142owski Nowak passed away on April 10, 2020, due to the pandemic.
