The 20th anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001 has been commemorated with several tributes to the victims celebrated in Spain.<\/p>\n

The history of the Spanish woman murdered in the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n

Tribute ceremony at the Rota Naval Base<\/big><\/p>\n

At Rota Naval Station, a joint Spanish and US base, sailors from both countries participated in a joint act held in the base's chapel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, US Navy sailors carried the Flag of the United States and its Navy, while a Spanish sailor carried the Flag of Spain<\/strong>, escorted by a Spanish Marine.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In the act they have issued images of the tragic events that took place that day. <\/strong>Here we see the moment in which the second plane hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A US sailor has shown his folded Flag<\/strong>, as it is deposited in the hands of his relatives during the burials of his Fallen. Before the altar were two equipments of the American firefighters from the Base<\/strong>, in memory of the firefighters who died in the attacks.<\/p>\n

Tribute ceremony at the US Embassy in Madrid<\/big><\/p>\n

In addition to the aforementioned tribute in Rota, an act of remembrance has also been held at the US Embassy in Madrid for the victims from the 9\/11 attacks.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This event was attended by Jos\u00e9 Luis de San P\u00edo, father of<\/strong> Silvia de San P\u00edo, the only Spanish victim of the attacks<\/a>, who died in the North Tower along with her husband, John Thomas Resta, and their unborn son, Dylan.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

During this act, the personnel of the US Marine Corps that guards the Embassy raised their National Flag at half mast on the mast of the compound<\/strong>, as a sign of mourning for the victims of the attacks.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Tribute ceremony at the US Consulate in Barcelona<\/big><\/p>\n

Likewise, at the United States General Consulate in Barcelona a tribute was also paid to the victims from 9\/11, in this case only with civilian personnel. During the event, an oak tree was planted in the gardens of the Consulate and a moment of silence was kept in tribute to the victims.<\/strong><\/p>\n
