The Kremlin launched that lie knowing that neo-Nazi paramilitaries support the pro-Russian separatists in Donbas<\/a>. Today a new example of what Russia understands by \"denazification\". The Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorial has reported this morning<\/a> that Boris Romantschenko, a 96-year-old Ukrainian, died last Friday<\/strong>. He was a survivor of the German concentration camps in Buchenwald, Peenem\u00fcnde, Dora and Bergen-Belsen. He lived in Kharkov, and has died because of a Russian attack on the residential areas of that Ukrainian city.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"According to his granddaughter, he lived in a multi-story building that was hit by a shell. Boris Romantschenko campaigned intensely for the memory of the nazi crimes<\/strong> and was vice-president of the Buchenwald-Dora International Committee,\"<\/em> the Memorial says, ands adds: \"We are deeply dismayed.<\/strong>\"<\/em><\/p>\n

The Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorial has published<\/a> this photo of Boris Romantschenko taken in 2012, in which he read the Buchenwald oath to \"build a new world of peace and freedom\"<\/strong> during an event marking the anniversary of the camp's liberation from Buchenwald.<\/p>\n

My condolences to the family of Boris Romantschenko<\/strong>, and my hope that Russian war criminals, starting with Vladimir Putin, pay for what they are doing against Ukraine.<\/p>\n
