But the situation is even worse for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/how-ukraine-separatists-are-mass-conscripting-anyone-of-fighting-age\/a-61608760\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the men who are being massively recruited by Russia in the occupied areas of the Ukrainian region of Donbass<\/a>, where armed separatist groups from the self-proclaimed \"republics\" of Luhansk and Donetsk have been operating since 2014. <strong>The Russians are forcibly recruiting men between the ages of 18 and 55, and equipping them with very poor equipment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, May 13, <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/ThisisfactZ\/265\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the pro-Russian Telegram channel ThisisfactZ published this video<\/a> in which we see<strong> men recruited by the Russians in the occupied areas of Donetsk Oblast:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jYx94YAQbvE\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In the images, <strong>uniforms and helmet covers in Russian Flora camouflage somewhat disguise other, more obsolete gear.<\/strong> The trick is revealed in those soldiers who do not wear a cover on their helmet. These are <strong>SSh-68 steel helmets from Soviet times:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52078510269_70e6330b25_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wearing steel helmets from half a century ago in the days of Kevlar helmets is the least conspicuous thing to see in that video. The most striking detail is the weapons. And it is that <strong>these recruits carry old Mosin-Nagant model 1891 bolt-action rifles, a weapon used by the USSR in World War II.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52078717430_a2204f2a87_b.jpg\" style=\"width:661px; height:auto; border:2px solid #7F7261;\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">The Mosin\u2013Nagant in its 1930 variant (Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.19fortyfive.com\/2022\/02\/meet-the-mosin-nagant-the-best-rifle-ever-made\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">19fortyfive.com<\/a>).<\/div>\n<p>We are not dealing with an isolated case.
