{"id":47471,"date":"2022-05-22T23:42:51","date_gmt":"2022-05-22T21:42:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=47471"},"modified":"2022-06-22T21:36:24","modified_gmt":"2022-06-22T19:36:24","slug":"a-military-facility-with-an-abandoned-tank-and-a-helicopter-in-new-jersey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/05\/22\/a-military-facility-with-an-abandoned-tank-and-a-helicopter-in-new-jersey\/","title":{"rendered":"A military facility with an abandoned tank and a helicopter in New Jersey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United States is one of the countries that invests the most in defense, and in its territory there are many military bases, some of them already abandoned.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/05\/15\/the-armored-vestiges-of-the-cold-war-a-tanks-graveyard-in-germany\/\">The armored vestiges of the Cold War: a tanks graveyard in Germany<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/05\/14\/war-zone-exploration-an-abandoned-russian-military-camp-near-chernobyl\/\">War zone exploration: an abandoned Russian military camp near Chernobyl<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>I found a video from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/DarkExploration\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dark Exploration Films<\/a>, published three years ago, in which the author shows what appears to be<strong> an abandoned military training range in a forested area of the United States:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8BoTDL0NwZo\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The video has two very interesting details. The first is this <strong>abandoned M-60A3 tank at the site.<\/strong> Although the author of the video points out that it is from the Vietnam era, to be exact that variant of the M-60 was introduced in 1978 and was completely withdrawn from service in 2005. The unit in the video <strong>wears the NATO camouflage of three colors (green, brown and black) introduced by the US Army in 1984.<\/strong> It's a shame to see such a tank abandoned...<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52091929158_57d7268c07_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It's even sadder to see this abandoned <strong>Bell UH-1H Huey<\/strong> nearby. Thanks to the license plate on the tail, I have located <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerialvisuals.ca\/AirframeDossier.php?Serial=185519\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a website that indicates that it is 66-0750 (cn 5233)<\/a>, manufactured in Fort Worth, Texas, as a UH-1D in the mid-1960s and put into service in the US Army with registration 66-0750. <strong>In 1970 it was converted to a UH-1H, and transferred to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehust, New Jersey.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52090881622_c471f2a9cd_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2017 this helicopter was photographed in the training field of that base<\/strong>, already without rotors and without an engine, with a license plate 66-16757 that, apparently, is false.
