It is noteworthy that one of the longest tunnels is the Gadara Aqueduct, built by the Roman Empire in present-day Jordan and that in total it had a length of 170 kilometers, although the longest of its tunnels (as the video indicates) measured 94.

Today, the longest tunnel is the Delaware Aqueduct, with a length of 137 kilometers and a width of 4.1 meters. It was built between 1939 and 1945 and supplies water to the city of New York: a total of 4.9 million cubic meters of water every day. However, much longer tunnels are being built in China today, for the same purpose: to supply water to its huge cities.

---

Photo: Zacharie Grossen.
