Among the engineering works that have existed throughout history, tunnels are, without a doubt, one of the most complex and at the same time the most fascinating.<\/p>\n

\u00c1lvaro Gracia Montoya, author of the excellent YouTube channel MetaBallStudios<\/a>, has published today an interesting video made in 3D on a computer in which he reviews the longest tunnels in the world, both those dedicated to vehicle traffic and those whose purpose is water supply<\/strong> for human consumption. It is noteworthy that one of the longest tunnels is the Gadara Aqueduct, built by the Roman Empire<\/strong> in present-day Jordan and that in total it had a length of 170 kilometers, although the longest of its tunnels (as the video indicates) measured 94.<\/p>\n

Today, the longest tunnel is the Delaware Aqueduct<\/strong>, with a length of 137 kilometers and a width of 4.1 meters. It was built between 1939 and 1945 and supplies water to the city of New York: a total of 4.9 million cubic meters of water every day. <\/strong>However, much longer tunnels are being built in China today, for the same purpose: to supply water to its huge cities.<\/p>\n
