That silo was abandoned and in poor condition, and it no longer had a missile. However, in Arizona you can visit a museum installed in an old silo that still preserves its Titan II missile, although inert, of course. This is the Titan Missile Museum, located 40 kilometers south of Tucson and managed by a non-profit organization, the Arizona Aerospace Foundation. It is the only Titan II silo that is currently preserved with its missile. The silo was built in 1963 and decommissioned in 1984.

This museum has its own YouTube channel, with many videos about its contents. In this video they show a summary of what you can see there:

Two months ago, Norman Hunger visited this museum, which is in perfect condition, and published a longer video in which, among other details, you can see that the old control room of the silo still has the two keys with which its managers could have launched the ICBM:

In case you ever pass by this place, here is its location on Google Maps:

The LGM-25C Titan II intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), with nuclear warheads, were in service with the United States between 1962 and 1987.

[12876,16888
2669,16714,13921,14877,16713,10431
post-47565","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-excluir-de-anotaciones-eng","category-museums","tag-arizona","tag-arizona-aerospace-foundation","tag-cold-war","tag-icbm-lgm-25c-titan-ii","tag-titan-missile-museum","tag-united-states
