It have a length of almost 28 kilometres, and it was expected that it would be inaugurated in 2007, but as is often the case with public works in Spain, <strong>the initial budget skyrocketed and the deadlines lengthened. <\/strong>In addition, on January 27, 2005, part of the tunnel for the extension of Line 5 in El Carmelo collapsed, which, together with complaints from neighbors about the inconvenience caused by the works, led to changes to Line 9, in fear of a new collapse. Finally, after new changes <strong>in 2011, part of the work was stopped with just over 4 kilometers to go in its central section to finish it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Monday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/TheProperPeople\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Proper People<\/a>, a group of urban explorers from the US, published <strong>a video sneaking into the section under construction and currently abandoned of Line 9:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/X05A_MctIlg\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Some Spanish media echoed this video<\/strong>, which exposed to the world a colossal work that has been abandoned for years.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52149340316_398d4d4c85_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To tell the truth, <strong>the images published by The Proper People seem to be taken from a science-fiction movie<\/strong> in the style of \"Blade Runner\", with constructions of colossal size.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52149829035_63f591621f_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some of the tunnels, like the one you can see above, would be<strong> the ideal setting for a horror movie.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52148321427_b3a3bd320f_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Other tunnels have light<\/strong>, which encourages one to wonder how many years that light has been paid for without any work being done...<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52148321267_50c5fc64c0_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The most interesting thing about the video is that <strong>the explorers found a tunnel boring machine that has been standing still for years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52149340381_f9b8f4db5a_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Not only did they find it, but <strong>they also got on the tunnel boring machine...<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52149578614_4dd560beb0_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>... and even made it as far as its control room.<\/strong> We are talking about machinery with a millionaire cost. I wonder who will take care of the security of these works.<\/p>\n<p>The funniest thing is that two days after the video was published, it has been announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.es\/espana\/catalunya\/barcelona\/abci-reactivan-trabajos-tramo-central-linea-9-metro-barcelona-tras-11-anos-interrumpidos-202206151421_noticia.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the tunnel boring machine on the central section of Line 9 has resumed its work after 11 years stopped<\/a>.
