This week a spectacular exercise took place in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, in which the frigate USS Rodney M. Davis (FFG-60) was sunk.<\/p>\n

This old vessel, of the Oliver Hazard Perry class, was launched in 1986<\/strong> and decommissioned from the US Navy in January 2015. On July 12, this frigate served as the target for a sinking exercise as part of naval maneuvers Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022<\/strong>, which brings together 38 ships, 4 submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 military personnel from 26 nations in waters near the Hawaiian Islands and southern California.<\/p>\n

The ship was hit first by two Harpoon anti-ship missiles, and finally by an Exocet MM40 Block 2 anti-ship missile<\/strong> launched by the Royal Malaysian Navy corvette KD Lekir (F-26). Naval forces from Australia, Canada and the US also participated in this sinking exercise. You can see here the impressive images of the impacts:<\/strong><\/p>\n
