{"id":48067,"date":"2022-07-20T23:02:32","date_gmt":"2022-07-20T21:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=48067"},"modified":"2024-07-20T00:06:08","modified_gmt":"2024-07-19T22:06:08","slug":"they-find-a-graveyard-of-m-60-patton-tanks-in-a-forest-and-enter-one-of-them","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/07\/20\/they-find-a-graveyard-of-m-60-patton-tanks-in-a-forest-and-enter-one-of-them\/","title":{"rendered":"They find a graveyard of M-60 Patton tanks in a forest and enter one of them"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Searching Google Maps you can sometimes find curious things, as happened to Brett and Bobby, two urban explorers from the United States.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/07\/01\/lenta-one-of-the-largest-armored-vehicle-graveyards-in-the-world\/\">Lenta: one of the largest armored vehicle graveyards in the world<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/06\/29\/a-graveyard-of-british-tanks-and-armoured-personnel-carriers-in-the-island-of-cyprus\/\">A graveyard of British tanks and armoured personnel carriers in the island of Cyprus<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the Google Maps website, <strong>these two young men discovered an M-60 Patton tank graveyard in the middle of a forest, and went to see it.<\/strong> They did not want to reveal the location, and from what they say in the video, it seems that <strong>the place could be a military firing range:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_e9dbTFOmrg<\/p>\n<p>To tell the truth, if it is a shooting range, there is one thing that does not add up to me, and that is that <strong>the tanks are not as destroyed as those that are abandoned in a place like this tend to be<\/strong>, being used as targets for artillery, anti-tank weapons or aviation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52229827393_a11fc4c5ef_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The M-60s that are in this place have the three-color NATO camouflage<\/strong> (black, brown and olive green), although some have paint in such poor condition that this camouflage is no longer well distinguished. <strong>Introduced in 1960 in the US Army, this model was withdrawn in 1991<\/strong> (being replaced by the M-1 Abrams), being relegated to units of the National Guard (which in turn withdrew it in 1997 ) and maintaining training functions until 2005. <strong>Today most of the M-60s are used by the US Army as targets for exercises.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52230303185_cb6ea135e9_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The engines of the tanks have been removed<\/strong>, which allows us to see empty the place they occupied.
