{"id":48183,"date":"2022-08-02T21:11:18","date_gmt":"2022-08-02T19:11:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=48183"},"modified":"2025-12-05T19:17:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T18:17:08","slug":"the-tributes-to-two-polish-soldiers-of-the-world-war-ii-buried-in-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/08\/02\/the-tributes-to-two-polish-soldiers-of-the-world-war-ii-buried-in-spain\/","title":{"rendered":"The tributes to two Polish soldiers of the World War II buried in Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This Monday marked the 78th anniversary of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, carried out by the Polish resistance against the Third Reich.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2019\/08\/01\/warsaw-1944-when-poland-rose-against-the-third-reich-and-stalin-stand-idly-by\/\">Warsaw 1944: when Poland rose against the Third Reich \u2026 and Stalin stand idly by<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"http:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2017\/02\/14\/armia-krajowa-75-years-ago-was-founded-the-largest-resistance-movement-of-the-ww2\/\">Armia Krajowa: the history of the greatest resistance movement of the World War II<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p><big>Tribute to Stanislaw Serdakowski 'Stasiek' in Majadahonda<\/big><\/p>\n<p>This August 1, two tributes were held to Polish soldiers who fought in that Uprising and who are buried in Spain. <strong>In Majadahonda (Madrid) a tribute was paid to Stanislaw Serdakowski \"Stasiek\".<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52257860317_bee8ea1cdd_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Stanislaw was a soldier of the Battalion \"Baszta\" of the<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2017\/02\/14\/armia-krajowa-75-years-ago-was-founded-the-largest-resistance-movement-of-the-ww2\/\">Armia Krajowa (AK, National Army)<\/a>, the main organization of the Polish resistance against Nazi Germany, during the Warsaw Uprising. Following the defeat of the Rising, Stanislaw was sent as a prisoner of war to Germany. He moved to Spain in the late 1950s and <strong>in 1999 he was awarded the Officer's Cross of Merit.<\/strong> He passed away in Madrid on February 23, 2015.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52258829371_b169fabec2_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The tribute was attended by the Consul of Poland in Madrid, Justyna Tokarska<\/strong>, the Director of the Polish Institute of Culture, Gabriela Slowinska, and representatives of the Hispano-Polish Forum Association, the Nasz Dom Association of Getafe and the Karol Wojtyla Association of Segovia.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52259313560_4898b66377_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the tribute, <strong>reenactors from the Historical-Cultural Association \"Poland First to Fight\" honored Serdakowski<\/strong>, with uniforms in the style of the Polish soldiers who took part in the Uprising. <strong>The event was also attended by Susana Rosendo, niece of Stanislaw Serdakowski<\/strong>, as reported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PolandFight\/posts\/pfbid02EysiQ3T7D59B5XwtwWx7Kg5XQqKrxxUpMiFSoS8XCFzC2SydpuQoajpE4jGvRvUVl?__cft__[0]=AZXZ6XGPfMkuETzaR_tHxGfdTYjOmllp0pNo7ZDT5p1u2ud-YatR_EASm8kBqITPmRGzm7g_ZAPfFZoe9viFzaSLTArdWIxdH7mGrQR4dNa61rLG9Xcl2zXwC3w9WyMAZhDdlHFepmzJ2edqopagGoxaREaYMm8ZkrB7e4RvO-Szkw&__tn__=%2CO%2CP-R\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Association \"Poland First to Fight\"<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Godzina W Madrycie 2022\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nQVcfKm4A4s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>During this act, at 5:00 p.m., a siren was sounded in memory of the start time of the Uprising, the so-called \"hour W\".<\/strong> You can see on these lines the video of the act published by the Association \"Poland First to Fight\" on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCcFUJvm5Alqp_3svc3qFLqA\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">its Youtube channel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><big>Tribute to Lilliana Skorel Jankowski 'Dzidka' in Borja<\/big><\/p>\n<p>Likewise, this Monday a <strong>tribute to Lilliana Skorel Jankowski \"Dzidka\" was also held in the town of Borja (Zaragoza).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52258854421_29774d9ab9_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lilliana was born in the city of Toru\u0144, in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (Poland) on March 20, 1927. <strong>She was a liaison officer of the 6th \"Wawer\" Company of the \"Kili\u0144ski\" Battalion of the Armia Krajowa during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944<\/strong>, being wounded on September 13.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52257885882_89bb5efce6_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After the World War II, in the midst of the communist persecution against former members of the AK, <strong>Lilliana went to the United Kingdom and then to the United States<\/strong>, where she met Professor Carlos S\u00e1nchez del R\u00edo y Sierra (1924 -2013), president of the CSIC between 1978 and 1980, whom he married, <strong>fixing his residence in Spain in 1953. He died on December 4, 2012 in Madrid<\/strong>, being buried in Borja.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52258854406_9aac738bbf_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>This tribute was attended by the mayor of Borja, Eduardo Arilla<\/strong>, the Councilor for Culture, Dorge Jim\u00e9nez, and the president of the Centro de Estudios Borjanos, Manuel Gracia Rivas (author of these photos).
