{"id":48444,"date":"2022-09-01T20:28:30","date_gmt":"2022-09-01T18:28:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=48444"},"modified":"2025-12-05T19:16:00","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T18:16:00","slug":"night-tribute-in-madrid-to-those-who-fell-and-were-murdered-in-the-1939-invasion-of-poland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/09\/01\/night-tribute-in-madrid-to-those-who-fell-and-were-murdered-in-the-1939-invasion-of-poland\/","title":{"rendered":"Night tribute in Madrid to those who fell and were murdered in the 1939 invasion of Poland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, September 1, marks the 83rd anniversary of the start of World War II, which began with the German invasion of Poland.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"hhttps:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2017\/08\/30\/the-myth-of-polish-cavalry-charges-against-tanks-in-september-1939\/\">The myth of Polish cavalry charges against tanks in September 1939<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/08\/02\/the-tributes-to-two-polish-soldiers-of-the-world-war-ii-buried-in-spain\/\">The tributes to two Polish soldiers of the World War II buried in Spain<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>For this reason, this morning, <strong>at 4:45 a.m.<\/strong>, at the time that 83 years ago the battleship SMS Schleswig-Holstein opened fire on the Polish positions in Westerplatte, <strong>an act of commemoration was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Madrid.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52327476898_8f7ea52212_o.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The event was organized and chaired by the Polish Defense Attach\u00e9, Captain Dorota Stachura<\/strong>, and was attended by the Polish Police Liaison, Major Karolina Gablicka-Bak.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52327476923_524a3787e7_o.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Reenactors from the<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PolandFight\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Historical-Cultural Association \"Poland First to Fight\"<\/a>, made up of Spaniards and Poles residing in Spain who carry out outreach and recreation work on Poland's struggle for freedom in World War II and in the Polish-Soviet War. <strong>Reenactors wore uniforms like those worn by Polish Army soldiers at the time of that invasion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52327233321_9f924c5087_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>During the act a minute of silence was observed for all the Poles who fell and were killed during the Second World War<\/strong>.
