He took part in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2019\/08\/01\/warsaw-1944-when-poland-rose-against-the-third-reich-and-stalin-stand-idly-by\/\">Warsaw Uprising of 1944<\/a>, being taken prisoner by the Germans. He managed to escape, briefly joining the Yugoslav resistance and later reaching Italy, where <strong>he joined the 3rd \"Karpathic\" Rifle Division of the Second Polish Corps<\/strong>, under the orders of Lieutenant General W\u0142adys\u0142aw Anders, being demobilized in 1947, after which he went into exile in the United Kingdom. <strong> He had been living in Spain for many years<\/strong>, where he met his wife, having 4 children and 8 grandchildren. <strong>He resided in Alicante, where he was buried this Tuesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The funeral was attended by the <strong>Polish Military Attach\u00e9 in Spain<\/strong>, Captain Dorota Stachura, and members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PolandFight\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\"Poland First to Fight\" Historical-Cultural Association<\/a> wearing Polish uniforms from World War II. During the burial, D\u0105browski's Mazurka, the Polish National Anthem, was played.
