Today the Spanish Air Force celebrates the day of its Patron Saint, the Virgin of Loreto. A special day to remember those who defend Spanish airspace.<\/p>\n

The military purchases that Spain plans: MPA, MLRS and a substitute for the EF-18 and Harrier II<\/a><\/rel>

You can see below a review of the 412 aircraft that the Spanish Air Force currently has in service<\/strong>. The designation that the Spanish Air Force gives to each aircraft model is indicated in parentheses.<\/p>\n

Fighter planes<\/big><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

McDonnell Douglas EF-18 Hornet (C.15)<\/b>. Fighter. 84 units distributed among Wings 12, 15 and 46.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Eurofighter Typhoon (C.16)<\/b>. Fighter. 70 units distributed between Wings 11 and 14. A further 20 units have been ordered to replace the EF-18As of Wing 46.<\/p>\n

Training aircrafts<\/big><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Northrop F-5BM Freedom Fighter (AE.9)<\/b>. Training aircraft for fighter and attack. 19 units in Wing 23.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CASA C-101 Aviojet (E.25)<\/strong>. Training and aerobatic aircraft. 42 units, most of them in the process of being withdrawn from service, assigned to the \u00c1guila Patrol, the Weapons and Experimentation Logistics Center (CLAEX), the Matac\u00e1n School Group (GRUEMA) and the General Air Academy (AGA).<\/p>\n

Enaer T-35C Pill\u00e1n (E.26)<\/b>. Training aircraft. 36 units assigned to the General Air Academy (AGA).<\/p>\n

Sikorsky S-76C (HE.24)<\/b>. Training and rescue helicopter. 8 units assigned to Wing 78.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Beechcraft 33C Bonanza (E.24)<\/b>. Training aircraft. 16 units assigned to Wing 37.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Eurocopter EC-120 Colibri (HE.25)<\/b>. Training and aerobatic helicopter. 15 units assigned to Wing 78.<\/p>\n

Airbus A330 (T.24\/TK.24)<\/b>. Transport and refueling aircraft. One unit delivered and another two on the way will be assigned to the 45th Air Force Group.<\/p>\n

Airbus A310 (T.22)<\/b>. Executive transport plane. 2 units operated by the 45th Air Force Group.<\/p>\n

Airbus A400M Atlas (T.23\/TK.23)<\/b>. Transport and refueling aircraft. 13 units in Wing 31, 1 more unit pending delivery.<\/p>\n

Dassault Falcon 900 (T.18)<\/b>. Executive transport plane. 5 units operated by the 45th Air Force Group.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CASA C-295 (T.21)<\/strong>. Transport plane. 12 units assigned to Wing 35.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CASA CN-235 (T.19\/D.4)<\/b>. Transport aircraft and maritime surveillance. 17 units (8 transport, 8 maritime surveillance and 1 photogrammetry). Used in Wings 46, 48 and 49, in the Cartographic and Photographic Center (CECAF) and in the Matac\u00e1n School Group (GRUEMA), and 1 photogrammetry plane assigned to the Cartographic and Photographic Center (CECAF).<\/p>\n

CASA C-212 Aviocar (T.12)<\/b>. Transport plane. 11 units distributed between Wing 37, the Arms and Experimentation Logistics Center (CLAEX) and the Aerospace Intelligence and Targeting Center (CINTAER).<\/p>\n

NHIndustries NH-90 Lobo (HD.29)<\/b> Transport and rescue helicopter. 6 units assigned to Wing 48, another 6 pending delivery.<\/p>\n
