This Friday will mark one year since the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, which forced many Ukrainians to flee their country and seek refuge abroad.<\/p>\n

Poland welcomed the Ukrainian refugees and Spanish socialism left them helpless<\/a><\/rel>
\nPoland's impressive aid to Ukraine: a benchmark for all of Europe<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n

Pedro S\u00e1nchez promised them \"all possible protection and opportunities\"<\/big><\/p>\n

The refugees who arrived in Spain - some 110,000 - were mostly women, children and the elderly, since men of military age had been mobilized. In March 2022, the President of the Spanish Government, the socialist Pedro S\u00e1nchez promised them \"all possible protection and opportunities\"<\/a>. He even boasted that \"we are setting an example of collaboration, cooperation and institutional coordination.\"<\/em> And as he has done so many other times, S\u00e1nchez lied.<\/strong><\/p>\n

19 Ukrainian associations denounced the lack of help from the government<\/big><\/p>\n

In November you could already read in Counting Stars the statement from 19 Ukrainian associations in Spain denouncing the lack of government aid<\/a>, noting that \"only a small part of the refugees have been able to enter programs officials<\/strong> that provide them with basic conditions, but the rest, the vast majority, continue to need help and have been waiting for it for more than 8 months\"<\/em>, which is why \"already for more than they have had to survive for 8 months on the basis of help from their Ukrainian relatives<\/strong>or heartily thank the solidarity of the Spaniards who have welcomed them.\"<\/em><\/p>\n

Those 19 associations stated then: \"During all this time, Ukrainian citizens have not received aid from the Spanish state<\/strong>, and the aid announced in August by the authorities, at this time, has not been received either. has finished managing so that the refugees obtain, even a minimum of help for their basic needs\"<\/em>. Ukrainian associations urged the government to \"take all measures <\/strong>, not only to give instructions to local authorities, but to ensure compliance with the regulations, which ensure help to Ukrainian citizens who are not beneficiaries of official aid programs.\"<\/em> Apparently, the S\u00e1nchez government paid no attention to them.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The government approved aid but it does not reach the refugees: where is that money?<\/big><\/p>\n

Today the Fundaci\u00f3n Madrina<\/strong> has sent a statement to the media about the Ukrainian refugees, in which it denounces that \"after a year of war, more than half of the families are leaving Spain, finding itself worse than in their country<\/strong>\"<\/em>. This Foundation has rescued close to 1,000 refugees sheltered in 1,800 families and 300 towns in Spain, and points out the following: \"Many of them have gone from having the status of refugees to that of beggars in the \"queues of the hunger\u201d, waiting for months for aid that never arrives<\/strong>, aid proposed by Fundaci\u00f3n Madrina and that is approved by the Ministry of Inclusion\".<\/em> The logical question to ask yourself when reading this is: If these aids were approved but do not reach their recipients, what has the government done with that money?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spain, the second European country in aid deprives Ukrainian refugees<\/big><\/p>\n

The Madrina Foundation points out that \"Spain seemed to promise hope for a better future<\/strong> with work and a home, but the reality is that it only offers 13% employability. If one day Spain was the Third country in Europe in refugee protection records, today more than half of Ukrainians migrate to other European countries, where refugee protection is better<\/strong>\".<\/em> The Foundation adds: \"It is also worth noting that Spain was one of the European countries with the greatest private initiative to host refugees in homes, second only to Poland<\/strong>, but today there are hundreds of families living on the streets.\"<\/em><\/p>\n

The impressive help work of the Madrina Foundation for these refugees<\/big><\/p>\n

Honoring the prestige that this organization has in helping those most in need, the Madrina Foundation has been offering humanitarian support since the beginning of this war, going as far as going to Ukrainian territory<\/strong>, specifically to the city of Le\u00f3polos , to rescue children from orphanages, \"and to refugee camps in Poland near the border with Ukraine, to rescue children, their mothers and grandparents. For this, the volunteers of \"MadrinaRescate\" have been fundamental in the rescue and accompaniment operations in Ukraine and Poland, as well as transport and accommodation throughout the Spanish territory<\/strong>\"<\/em>, highlights the Foundation, which \"has prepared their flats, homes and residences, to accommodate these vulnerable mothers and children victims of war\".<\/em> A social initiative that contrasts with the lack of government aid.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Madrina Foundation points out that in the first months \"more than 926 people and 274 families were rescued.<\/strong> For this achievement, they had the logistics organization of 20 buses, 4 planes (one from the army Spanish) and 4 vans. All of them were first rehoused in hotels, and then welcomed in more than 1,800 families and 300 towns throughout Spain<\/strong>, together with the Foundation's residences and apartments. offers the Godmother Towns as a solution to this humanitarian emergency, especially for mothers with many dependent children\".<\/em><\/p>\n

The Madrina Foundation prepares the dispatch of ambulances, fire trucks and large generators<\/big><\/p>\n

Likewise, from the Foundation \"nearly 30 tons of humanitarian material have been sent to Ukraine<\/strong>, especially thermal and warm clothing, medicines, surgical material, food and hygiene for children, and more of 5 generators for large hospitals. Currently, a shipment of ambulances, fire trucks and large generators is being prepared<\/strong>, demanded by hospitals and cities near the red zone of conflict\".<\/em> Thus Likewise, in April 2022, the Foundation launched the \"SOSUkraine 24h\" social and health care service, with which \"it has answered thousands of calls from refugees and natives in conflict zones for help in Spain or his rescue in Ukraine<\/strong>. As of today, \"more than 200 children and their families are cared for at the Fundaci\u00f3n Madrina in Madrid, from the \u201chunger queues\u201d to the hand toys of \u201cSan Nicol\u00e1s\u201d<\/strong>, from training in Spanish to employment and accommodation. Likewise, this service accompanies them throughout the process of legal, health and educational regularization\".<\/em> The Madrina Foundation continues to demand \"more support measures to the refugee<\/strong>, such as express homologation of health and engineering university degrees, to facilitate access to work and support with administrative guarantees to access social rents.\"<\/em><\/p>\n
