{"id":50546,"date":"2023-02-21T20:52:01","date_gmt":"2023-02-21T19:52:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=50546"},"modified":"2025-02-21T00:07:09","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T23:07:09","slug":"ukrainian-armed-forces-show-their-first-uh-60-black-hawk-helicopter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/02\/21\/ukrainian-armed-forces-show-their-first-uh-60-black-hawk-helicopter\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukrainian Armed Forces show their first UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today Ukraine has given a surprise by showing its first UH-60 Black Hawk, something unexpected, since the US did not announce any delivery of these helicopters.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/02\/19\/avenger-the-air-defense-system-that-will-combat-russian-drones-in-ukraine\/\">Avenger: the air defense system that will combat Russian drones in Ukraine<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/02\/13\/poland-releases-the-first-images-of-ukrainians-training-with-leopard-2a4\/\">Poland releases the first images of Ukrainians training with Leopard 2A4<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>The announcement was made by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR), <a href=\"https:\/\/gur.gov.ua\/content\/aviatsiia-voiennoi-rozvidky-ukrainy-vykonuie-boiovi-zavdannia-na-perednomu-krai-oborony.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">publishing two photos of the UH-60 on its website<\/a>, in a statement titled: <em>\"<strong>The military intelligence aviation of Ukraine performs combat missions on the first line of defense<\/strong>\"<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The text reads as follows: <em>\"Ukrainian military intelligence aviation continues its work on the first line of defense of our state. <strong>Reconnaissance pilots have just returned from another combat mission<\/strong>.\"<\/em> The statement, which makes no mention of the UH-60, adds the following: <em>\"<strong>The combat helicopters significantly increase the capabilities of the special units of the Main Intelligence Directorate<\/strong> and the effectiveness of special operations. GUR MO pilots continue to destroy the enemy in all areas of the front.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52703369963_58477e2188_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the images shows a <strong>Mil Mi-24 attack helicopter of Soviet origin <\/strong> (on the right) and a <strong>Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk <\/strong> on the right. We can see here an extension of the helicopter of American origin:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52703144604_8575c9df61_o.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The GUR has published a second photo of the UH-60<\/strong>. The helicopter bears the Ukrainian military cockade painted on the engine and the Ukrainian flag on the tailgate. There are two details that stand out and that is that <strong>the helicopter has glossy paint, something typical of civil aircraft<\/strong> (military aircraft have matte paint to go more unnoticed), <strong>and it also has painted some blue and white lines.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52703369953_c6db7e61fb_h.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These details have helped some analysts identify the helicopter. <strong>This is a UH-60A from the American company Ace Aeronautics.<\/strong> Here we can see it with the US civilian registration N60FW at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/aceaero.llc\/photos\/a.509383022901192\/693399367832889\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a photo released by that company<\/a> on Oct 17, 2019. <strong>The helicopter fuselage decoration matches the UH -60 of the photos shown by the GUR.<\/strong> Coincidentally, the part of the tail where the helicopter's license plate appeared does not appear in the photo released today.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52703369998_7faef127b0_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here we can see a video from Ace Aeronautics showing <strong>that same UH-60A taking off from Guntersville Municipal Airport, Alabama, 11 months ago:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ace Aeronautics | Who We Are\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DflCSRuva0U?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/registry.faa.gov\/AircraftInquiry\/Search\/NNumberResult?nNumberTxt=60FW\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The N60FW registration with the FAA<\/a> indicates that the helicopter would have been acquired by Ace Aeronautics in November 2015. This company is dedicated to updating aircraft for private and government clients. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UrJC0y3RdGI\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A year ago it delivered a modernized UH-60A to the Austrian Armed Forces.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.helis.com\/database\/cn\/46607\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Helis.com data on that helicopter<\/a> indicates that it <strong>was built in 1980 under construction number 70-197, being delivered to United States Army Aviation<\/strong> under serial number 80-23439. At the end of November 2022, that helicopter was still in the US, so its delivery to Ukraine must have been recently. At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aircraft.com\/aircraft\/202603909\/n60fw-1980-sikorsky-uh-60a-black-hawk\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aircraft.com<\/ a> <strong>there is a review of this helicopter, aimed at its possible sale<\/strong>, which includes this description:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\"<strong>Exceptional RESTRICTED CATEGORY Black Hawk (RCTC #R00005RC) with 5,875 hours total time.<\/strong> PMI I & II and new paint in 2016 (PMI-1 due in 589 hours; PMI-2 due in 229 hours). Engines are T700-GE-700 (ETFs 0.98 on No. 1 and 1.0 on No. 2). Garmin G5000H Integrated Flight Deck STC #SR01944WI applied with Synthetic Vision, HTAWS, Storm Scope, Obstacle Alert, Wire Aware, geo-referenced maps and charts, SXM satellite radio\/wx, Iridium talk\/text\/wx, ADS-B in\/out, SafeTaxi, and more. EO\/IR Sensor Mount STC #SR01957WI applied (sensor not included). Excellent component times. <strong>Price includes operator and maintenance publications, G5000H training, and delivery within the Continental U.S.<\/strong> Negotiable: With our state-of-the-art paint facilities, we can customize the paint to your requirements.\"<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/aircraft\/air_cert\/airworthiness_certification\/sp_awcert\/restrict\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The FAA notes the following<\/a>: <em>\"A<strong> restricted category special airworthiness certificate<\/strong> is issued to operate aircraft that have been type certificated in the restricted category. Operation of restricted category aircraft <strong>is limited to special purposes identified in the applicable type design.<\/strong>\"<\/em> These categories include agricultural, forestry, photographic, infrastructure surveillance, and other utility uses.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52702948591_f9c0cc1624_o.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/aceaero.llc\/photos\/pb.100063691865373.-2207520000.\/1306840143155472\/?type=3\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">On March 8, 2022, Ace Aeronautics published this photo<\/a> <strong>of the helicopter in question with an AGM-114 Hellfire missile mount and an M134 Minigun machine gun<\/strong>.
