Ukraine has received a new consignment of armored vehicles, this time from Norway, the Armed Forces of that country announced today.<\/p>\n

\nThe more than 700 tanks donated to Ukraine by other countries: their numbers and models<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n

\"Eight Norwegian tanks have already reached their destination<\/strong> and are ready to go into action in the war against Russia\"<\/em>, announced<\/a> this afternoon by the Forsvaret (Norwegian Armed Forces). The Nordic country announced on 26 January that it would contribute to the international coalition to send modern tanks to Ukraine, and on February 14 it announced that it would be eight Leopard 2A4NO<\/a> and four support vehicles.<\/p>\n

Together with your statement<\/a> about this shipment, the Forsvaret have published a series of photos of the transport operation. Here we see an image of the convoy of flatbed trucks that have transported the armored vehicles<\/strong> through the snowy winter landscapes of Norway.<\/p>\n

In this other image we can see one of the Leopard 2A4NO tanks sent by Norway to Ukraine<\/strong>. The Leopard 2A4NO is a Norwegian variant of the Leopard 2A4. Norway bought a total of 52, whose deliveries began in 2002, being assigned to the three maneuver battalions of the Norwegian Army's Brigade Nord: the Panserbataljonen (Armored Battalion, based in Setermoen, Troms), the Porsanger Bataljon (based in Porsanger, Finnmark) and the Telemark Bataljon (based in Rena, Innlandet). Norway currently maintained 36 Leopard 2A4NO tanks in service<\/strong>, awaiting the arrival of the 54 new Leopard 2A7s purchased last month and whose first deliveries are expected in 2025.<\/p>\n

Here we see one of the Leopard 2A4NOs loaded onto a flatbed truck.<\/strong> Like the other Leopard 2A4s, the Norwegian variant is equipped with an L44 120mm smoothbore main gun, a machine gun 7.62 mm coaxial and another machine gun of the same caliber next to the loader's hatch, on the left side of the turret.<\/p>\n

The four support vehicles sent by Norway are two NM189 Ingeni\u00f8r Panservogn engineering vehicles and two NM217 Bergepanser recovery vehicles.<\/strong> The NM189 is the Norwegian version of the German Pionierpanzer 2 Dachs engineering vehicle, based on the chassis of the Leopard 1 tank. The NM217 is the Norwegian version of the Bergepanzer 2, the recovery vehicle also made from the Leopard 1. In this photo we see two NM189 (on the left), one NM217 (in the center) and three Leopard 2A4NO.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Forsvaret have informed that the 8 tanks sent by Norway are already in Ukraine and the training of personnel is also underway in Poland, under the auspices of the European Union. Surely the An-124 traveled to Poland, but Norway has not confirmed that information.<\/p>\n
