{"id":51216,"date":"2023-04-16T19:31:26","date_gmt":"2023-04-16T17:31:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=51216"},"modified":"2024-04-16T01:41:18","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T23:41:18","slug":"ukraine-shows-its-uh-60a-black-hawk-helicopter-in-action-with-a-spanish-name","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/04\/16\/ukraine-shows-its-uh-60a-black-hawk-helicopter-in-action-with-a-spanish-name\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine shows its UH-60A Black Hawk helicopter in action with a Spanish name"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two months ago, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/02\/21\/ukrainian-armed-forces-show-their-first-uh-60-black-hawk-helicopter\/\">showed off their first UH-60 Black Hawk<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/02\/21\/ukrainian-armed-forces-show-their-first-uh-60-black-hawk-helicopter\/\">Ukrainian Armed Forces show their first UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/12\/06\/the-us-army-already-has-a-replacement-for-the-sh-60-black-hawk-the-bell-v-280-valor\/\">The US Army already has a replacement for the UH-60 Black Hawk: the Bell V-280 Valor<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>On February 21, some photos of this helicopter were released, and through them it was possible to determine its origin: the American civil company Ace Aeronautics. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/02\/21\/ukrainian-armed-forces-show-their-first-uh-60-black-hawk-helicopter\/\">As you could already read here<\/a>, <strong>the helicopter is a UH-60A built in 1980 and belonged to the US Army Aviation <\/strong>, having the construction number 70-197 and the number serial number 80-23439. It passed into the hands of Ace Aeronautics in 2017. <strong>This company is dedicated to upgrading aircraft for private and government clients.<\/strong> Before it was sold to Ukraine, the helicopter had the US civilian registration number N60FW.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Today, the GUR has published<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wYFNaAWsWvI\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the first video of this UH-60A in action<\/a> and more photos of this aircraft. <em>\"The other day, <strong>on one of the front lines, regular training of special units of the GUR<\/strong> of the Ministry of Defense on interaction with the Black Hawk multipurpose helicopter was carried out\"<\/em>, points to the video description. <em>\"<strong>Special forces practiced landing combat groups on the battlefield<\/strong>, evacuation, landing from landing ropes, as well as night flights. As noted by both fighter and helicopter pilots, <strong>this combat vehicle is significantly ahead of the Soviet Mi-8 and Mi-24 counterparts<\/strong> in almost all characteristics.\"<\/em> Here's the video:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u041b\u0435\u0433\u0435\u043d\u0434\u0430\u0440\u043d\u0438\u0439 \u0430\u043c\u0435\u0440\u0438\u043a\u0430\u043d\u0441\u044c\u043a\u0438\u0439 \u0432\u0435\u0440\u0442\u043e\u043b\u0456\u0442 Black Hawk - \u00ab\u0427\u043e\u0440\u043d\u0438\u0439 \u044f\u0441\u0442\u0440\u0443\u0431\u00bb.\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wYFNaAWsWvI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In the video we see that the <strong>helicopter still has the decoration it had when it belonged to Ace Aeronautics:<\/strong> a glossy black paint (somewhat unsuitable for a military aircraft) with blue and white lines.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52822227905_37485a9e67_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The starboard door of the cabin <strong>puts his call sign, \"Maestro\"<\/strong> (curiously written in Spanish and with Latin characters) <strong>and a logo that says VL-60 Ace Deck<\/strong> , which is <a href=\"https:\/\/aceaero.com\/es\/ace-deck-vl-60\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the name given by Ace Aeronautics to its modernization of this UH-60A<\/a>, which has a flight management system with touch screens (FMS).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52822000269_96fc8c7b53_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here we can see <strong>a video from Ace Aeronautics that shows us how they have renewed the instruments of this Black Hawk<\/strong>, putting them on a par with the most recent helicopter models:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Garmin G5000H: Modernize the Mission\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Z-Bfm3BPi_Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gur.gov.ua\/content\/biitsi-holovnoho-upravlinnia-rozvidky-opanuvaly-ta-vykorystovuiut-v-boiovykh-diiakh-lehendarnyi-amerykanskyi-vertolit-black-hawk---chornyi-iastrub.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The GUR has published more information on its website<\/a> about this helicopter and the assessment made by its crew: <em>\"<strong>The helicopter impresses with its reliability, ease of operation and combat survivability<\/strong>\"<\/em>, the flight engineer points out.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52821251552_525daaf08c_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The GUR points out that <em>\"the \"Black Hawk\" is many times more maneuverable than the Mi-8<\/strong>, with much better control and wins in terms of horizontal flight speed. The helicopter is capable to fly continuously for about three hours and can easily cover a distance of more than 600 kilometers.\"<\/em> As for weaponry, he adds: <em>\"<strong>This type of helicopter is designed to fire guided missiles and unguided \"Hellfire\" type<\/strong>, and is also designed to support infantry and transport various loads.It takes 3-4 seconds for a helicopter to unload a group of 12 fighters and evacuate another from the battlefield \".<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52822330208_7154981bd9_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, as we saw two months ago, <strong>the Ukrainian UH-60A does not appear to carry the mounts for AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and an M134 Minigun machine gun<\/strong> carried by this helicopter during a presentation at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas in March 2022. <strong>It also does not include the L3 WESCAM viewer that it had on its front.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52822073274_4389c8e1c1_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the photos published today by the GUR we can also see in more detail <strong>the Gentex HGU-56\/P ballistic helmet equipped with a maxillofacial mask<\/strong> worn by one of the crew. It is a common protective equipment among the crew of the UH-60 of the US Army.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52822301285_a31470c57f_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The GRU website includes these words from the pilot of that UH-60A: <em>\"Over the past year, the level of our pilots has grown enormously. <strong>Today, Ukraine can easily host around a hundred Black Hawk multipurpose helicopters<\/strong>, about 50 Apache attack helicopters and 40-60 Chinook cargo helicopters. We could accept that number with minimal time to retrain our pilots.\"<\/em> <strong>It will all depend on the US and other countries are encouraged to donate these helicopters.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52821251567_4ff0606e36_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>In the video we also see this insignia<\/strong>, first on a patch on the arm of a crew member and finally on the nose of the aircraft. The insignia shows <strong>an owl<\/strong> (it is the bird that appears in the GUR emblem) <strong>holding in its claws two severed heads of a double-headed eagle<\/strong>, with their respective crowns ( the double-headed eagle is the heraldic emblem of Russia).
