During the Cold War years, many countries built all kinds of shelters in the face of possible air and nuclear attacks.<\/p>\n
In the 1950s, the communist dictatorship in Hungary launched the BGS program, initials for \"Bomba-G\u00e1z-Szil\u00e1nk\"<\/strong> (Bomb, Gas and Shrapnel), with which many shelters were built by the whole country, most of them underground and others on the surface, like big concrete cubes. These shelters were theoretically protected against bombs weighing up to 250 kg<\/strong>, they were self-sufficient and had space for dozens of people. All buildings made in Hungary since 1950 had to include this type of shelter in their basement<\/strong>, including houses and schools.<\/p>\n After the fall of communism, many of these shelters were abandoned and looted<\/strong>. Others, mainly the military shelters, were preserved for more years. Over time, these abandoned shelters have become a magnet for urban explorers<\/strong>. Today, the channel Exploring the Unbeaten Path<\/a> has published an interesting video showing one of these Cold War BGS bunkers in Hungary, without revealing details about its exact location.<\/strong> The most interesting thing is that this bunker still contains a large amount of unused military equipment:<\/p>\n
