In the last few hours, given the news that Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner group, would take refuge in Belarus, many pro-Russian propagandists in various countries have circulated the following map:<\/strong><\/p>\n Some messages posting that map from various countries can see here<\/a>, here<\/a>, here<\/a> and here<\/a>. The idea they are trying to convey is that Prigozhin would not have carried out a coup, but that it would be a master move by Russia<\/strong> to place the leader of Wagner a very short distance from Kiev and thus be able to launch an assault against the capital of Ukraine. According to them, this would explain why the charges of armed rebellion<\/strong> against the mercenary leader had been dropped.<\/p>\n The facts that do not fit with that bizarre theory<\/big><\/p>\n That theory is as crazy as other theories that pro-Russian propagandists have been spreading. To begin with, let's remember that Wagner's mercenaries shot down seven aircraft of the Russian armed forces<\/a>, killing their crews<\/strong>. As we saw a few days ago, the panic in Moscow was of such a caliber that armored vehicles were brought onto the streets, and dug trenches<\/a> and turning trucks into roadblocks<\/a> to hinder the advance of the mercenaries. The ridicule that Russia has made with this coup is resounding<\/strong>, since it has shown that power as an unstable country and in which an armed gang can reach 200 km from the capital.<\/p>\n RIA Novosti reports that charges against Wagner's boss remain<\/big><\/p>\n If Putin offered to drop the charges against Prigozhin, it was simply to try to stop the coup by making a concession to the mercenaries. The problem is that, by doing that, Putin exhibited a weakness that contrasts with the image of a strong leader<\/strong> that he has been trying to carve out for many years.
