Today, <a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/corporate\/about-tfl\/culture-and-heritage\/londons-transport-a-history\/london-underground\/disused-underground-stations\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the London Underground has 272 active stations and 40 abandoned stations<\/a>, both underground and above ground. This abandoned part is <strong>an ideal place to shoot movies<\/strong>, such as \"Creep\" (2004), starring the German actress Franka Potente, and \"The Escapist\" (2008).<\/p>\n<p>Plus, <strong>those abandoned stations are a magnet for urban explorers<\/strong>. Precisely, a few days ago the channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@Urbandoned\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Urbandoned<\/a> published a video recorded in 2019 going through two lines Abandoned London Underground Network:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Under London&#039;s Streets: Exploring Abandoned Train Lines\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SF24CPX3wuw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>You can see here some screenshots of the video as a preview. <strong>One of the lines seen in the video still has light<\/strong>, despite having been closed for many years.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53084236082_750132eebc_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sign of Union Street, a station that never existed.<\/strong> It is actually an underground tram station, Holborn, also known as Great Queen Street station. It was inaugurated in 1906 and closed in 1952. The \"Union Street\" sign represents a fictitious station from the aforementioned film \"The Escapist\" (2008). After shooting the film, part of the sets were left there.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53085211700_1b71728e19_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>What looks like an old service tunnel<\/strong>, still lit.
