During the Civil War, airfields were built in different parts of Spain to accommodate the air units of both sides.<\/p>\n

In Calzadilla de los Barros, in the province of Badajoz, the Republican aviation had a military airfield that was attacked by the forces of the national side in the summer of 1936<\/strong>. Later, when taking control of this area, the national army built some buildings next to the already existing airfield, becoming known as Aerodromo 101, as indicated in elgrancapitan.org<\/a>. This base was used to attack the republican positions in the Frente de la Serena.<\/p>\n

According to arteenruinas.com<\/a>, the airfield was demilitarized after the Civil War<\/strong>, dedicating the facilities to agricultural and livestock uses, until they were finally abandoned. Today the old airfield is in ruins.
