{"id":52830,"date":"2023-08-25T17:25:28","date_gmt":"2023-08-25T15:25:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=52830"},"modified":"2024-08-25T00:17:30","modified_gmt":"2024-08-24T22:17:30","slug":"the-guardian-2-0-remote-turrets-of-the-vci-dragon-armored-vehicles-of-the-spanish-army","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/08\/25\/the-guardian-2-0-remote-turrets-of-the-vci-dragon-armored-vehicles-of-the-spanish-army\/","title":{"rendered":"The Guardian 2.0 remote turrets of the VCI Drag\u00f3n armored vehicles of the Spanish Army"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Little by little we are getting to know new images of the new Spanish Army Wheeled Combat Vehicles (VCR) Drag\u00f3n.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/12\/20\/the-delivery-of-the-first-dragon-vcrs-to-the-spanish-army-this-is-how-these-vehicles-are\/\">The delivery of the first Dragon VCRs to the Spanish Army: this is how these vehicles are<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/06\/06\/a-demonstration-of-the-firepower-of-the-guardian-30-turret-of-the-spanish-vcr-dragon\/\">A demonstration of the firepower of the Guardian 30 turret of the Spanish VCR Drag\u00f3n<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>This Wednesday, August 23, the Spanish company Escribano Mechanical and Engineering published <strong>a new video showing its Guardian 2.0 remote turret, this time showing it mounted on a VCR Dragon<\/strong>, specifically in the VCI version (Infantry Fighting Vehicle):<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"INTEGRACIONES G2 0\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/f4f6criAW9E?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/12\/20\/the-delivery-of-the-first-dragon-vcrs-to-the-spanish-army-this-is-how-these-vehicles-are\/\">As we saw in December of last year<\/a>, <strong>the Guardian 2.0 remote turrets will equip two variants of the VCR Drag\u00f3n:<\/strong> a part of the aforementioned VCI version (which totals 219 vehicles in the first phase) and the VCOAV (Forward Observer Combat Vehicle) version, with 8 units ordered. <strong>In both cases, the turrets will carry 12.7mm Browning M-2 heavy machine guns<\/strong>, a very veteran weapon but very effective as anti-vehicle and anti-personnel weapons.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53140902700_13f2d65ae7_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Como podemos ver en el v\u00eddeo, <strong>la torreta va montada en la mitad derecha del veh\u00edculo<\/strong>, detr\u00e1s del motor y delante del compartimento en el que va alojada la tropa.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53140960218_73cccdfa54_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On his website, Escribano <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eme-es.com\/guardian-2-0\/?lang=es\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">indicates<\/a> that the Guardian 2.0 <em>\"<strong>is a remotely controlled, two-axis gyro-stabilized weapon station<\/strong> that can be operated both day and night and mounted on different platforms or vehicles<\/strong>.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53140960173_8ff9b90518_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Escribano also points out that <strong>the turret can be equipped with different types of weapons<\/strong>, including 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm machine guns and 40 mm grenade launchers, as well as artifice launchers. On these lines we can see <strong>the version of the Guardian 2.0 turret with the aforementioned 12.7 mm Browning M-2 machine gun<\/strong> and, in addition, with 12 smoke grenade launchers. It is the version that will equip the VCI and VCOAV Dragon. Judging by its size, the ammunition box should have a capacity of 200 rounds.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53140690994_df4ba00e6a_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the photo above we can see <strong>the version of this turret equipped with a Mk-19 40 mm automatic grenade launcher<\/strong>.
