Recently I told you here<\/a> that today the rejection of slavery is widespread. If someone asked us, today we would all be abolitionists.<\/p>\n

'The Creator', the far from innocent message of a film with an impressive aesthetic<\/a><\/rel>
\n'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny': is it worth watching the fifth film in this saga?<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n

I admit that I cheated a little in that reflection. The trap is to assume the idea that slavery was abolished in the 19th century<\/strong>. However, for years I have known a terrible fact that many people ignore: right now there are more slaves in the world than at any other time in history<\/strong>, a fact that appears at the end of the film about the one I'm going to talk to you about today. And many of those slaves are children.<\/strong> After providing this information, how many will continue to consider themselves abolitionists? How many are willing to take on some challenge or sacrifice to end this scourge?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am making this reflection after watching \"Sound of Freedom\", an excellent film<\/strong> that arrived in Spanish cinemas this week. This feature film deals with an unpleasant topic: the trade in children for sexual purposes, a scourge that is increasing in our society<\/strong>. This film comes to Spain after having caused a surprise in its country of origin, the United States: it had a budget of 14 million dollars and has already raised 235 million<\/strong>. How is it possible for a film that addresses such an unpleasant topic to be so successful?<\/p>\n

To begin with, \"Sound of Freedom\" is a superhero movie<\/strong>, a genre that has been very successful in theaters for years. But unlike Marvel and DC movies, this movie is about real superheroes<\/strong>, about admirable people capable of making great sacrifices to free the most innocent from the clutches of evil people, of much worse people. than the worst villains in fiction movies. \"Sound of Freedom\" treads dark and sad terrain that no other superhero film has dared to try<\/strong>, and that is part of its greatness.<\/p>\n

But in addition to being well shot, having great photography and a good story, \"Sound of Freedom\" has something very necessary: a message of hope<\/strong>, the hope that J.R.R. Tolkien captured in the word \"Estel\", hope beyond all hope. Something that this society of haste, of the immediate and of passivity seems to have forgotten.<\/strong> The director of \"Sound of Freedom\", Alejandro Monteverde, has been able to tell a story that reaches deep of the soul and that encourages us to do something to improve the lives of others, specifically the most vulnerable and innocent<\/strong>, who are the children who fall into these horrifying networks.<\/p>\n

And what is that something? A great sacrifice is not asked of us. To do our part we just have to go to the cinema to see this film and bear witness to it.<\/strong> If many people did that, that perverse business that takes place in the dark, at the cost of destroying the lives of millions of children, would be exposed to light and society would become aware of the need to take measures to eradicate this slavery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For the rest, Jim Caviezel plays an excellent leading role<\/strong>, with Bill Camp and Eduardo Ver\u00e1stegui accompanying him on this risky adventure. By the way, we are facing a true story, whose real protagonist is called Timothy Ballard<\/strong>, an agent of the US Department of Homeland Security who abandoned his work to rescue children from these sexual slavery networks . Anyway, I won't say more. I highly recommend going to see this movie at the cinema.<\/strong> For the price of a ticket you can do immense good by helping to transmit this story and bring hope and freedom to all those children.
