In 1940, a year after the end of the Spanish Civil War, the Spanish Army had 27 divisions and a total of 366,000 men.<\/p>\n
To give us an idea, the Spanish Army then had four times more troops than today<\/strong>. This involved the maintenance of numerous military facilities, including instruction camps for recruits<\/strong> (in Spain there was then compulsory military service for all men). One of those camps was the \"Alf\u00e9rez Rubio Moscoso\" Instruction Camp<\/strong>, located in the town of Padul, in the province of Granada.<\/p>\n This camp was built in 1941<\/strong>, serving as a recruit training center and as a training place for the \"C\u00f3rdoba\" Infantry Regiment No. 10 and for the Special Operations Companies (COE). The camp was abandoned in the 1990s<\/strong> and today it is in a dilapidated situation, but it is still a military zone and property of the Ministry of Defense<\/a>. Occasionally it is still used as a maneuvering field.
