In 1902 this barracks was expanded to house the Ferrol Artillery Regiment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53543990846_4566d303a7_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">After its abandonment, the barracks has been used as a municipal car depot (Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/stgoweb\/3686481769\/in\/photostream\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">STGO web<\/a>).<\/div>\n<p><strong>Later, in 1960, the M\u00e9rida Infantry Regiment No. 44 settled there.<\/strong> The barracks occupied an area of 95,000 square meters. After the dissolution of the aforementioned regiment in the 1980s, <strong>the \"S\u00e1nchez de Aguilera\" Barracks became the headquarters of the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment No. 76 (RAAA 76)<\/strong>, until its dissolution in December 2002, at which time the Army abandoned the barracks.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53544420800_c0ac5e5f2d_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">An aerial image of the main courtyard of the barracks in 2024 (Photo: Google Street View).<\/div>\n<p>Since then, <strong>its facilities have been used as a municipal car depot<\/strong>. The place has been degrading little by little, while time has passed without the different administrations having agreed to give a new use to that large plot.
