Today <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@flybywire-aviation\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fly By Wire Aviation<\/a> (a YouTube channel that I recommend you follow, since it is publishing very interesting content) <strong>has published a video in which he shows us one of the EF-18M of the 12th Wing, the C.15-44 (12-02)<\/strong>, piloted by Captain Nuria Moral, which many will know since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/nuriamgorraiz\/?hl=es\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">has more than 12,000 followers on Instagram<\/a>, where she publishes some spectacular photos.<\/p>\n<p>In the video, recorded at the <strong>Getafe Air Base<\/strong> (probably the same day of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/03\/07\/the-landing-of-a-spanish-ef-18-hornet-fighter-in-getafe-using-its-arresting-hook\/\">landing with arrest hook that we saw here<\/a> this same week), we see Captain Moral doing the <strong>pre-flight inspection<\/strong> that all pilots do before getting on their planes, and after switching on, we see <strong>the taxiing of the EF-18 along the runway and its takeoff:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"McDonnell Douglas F-18 12-02 Ej\u00e9rcito del Aire y del Espacio\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/27b7241IvC4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>You can see here some screenshots of the video with some notes. Here we see <strong>Captain Moral inspecting the arresting hook<\/strong> that I told you about the other day, located between the nozzles of the plane and which is used to hook the braking cable both on runways on dry land and on flight decks of large aircraft carriers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53577092116_6761657649_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In this image we see <strong>a BGT AIM-2000 IRIS-T medium-range air-to-air missile<\/strong> on the marginal support of the port wing. It is a European-made missile that has been replacing the AIM-9 Sidewinder short-range missiles in the Spanish Air Force since 2008.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53577092136_59d6fd8e9f_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Finally, this image shows us <strong>one of the new Scorpion helmets that the Air Force is incorporating into the EF-18<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/09\/03\/the-characteristics-of-the-helmets-and-flight-equipment-of-the-spanish-ef-18-fighter-pilots\/\">I already told you about these helmets here<\/a> last year. As a curiosity, this helmet is personalized for each pilot.
