Seeing the lack of scruples that dominates his public actions , Sánchez brings a lot of vileness to that mix, and for this reason many people also believe that he is very cunning, but that is not the case. Sánchez usually makes a fatal mistake and typical of politicians like him, who lives surrounded by sycophants and very far from reality: overconfidence.

Last Thursday I pointed out here one of the mistakes that Sánchez made with that farce: now the entire international press has found out about his wife's scandal, that is, that she was dedicated to making deals with companies that received subsidies from the government chaired by her husband, something that regardless of whether it is classified as a crime or not - that will be determined by Justice, evaluating the existing evidence -, it is ethically unsustainable in a democracy and should give rise to the regulation of the figure of the consort of the president of the government to prevent situations like this from being repeated.

An “embarrassing spectacle” that is “unworthy of a prime minister”

The socialists have many like-minded journalists among the Spanish media, but Sanchez's image in foreign media has plummeted. An example of this is a comment published this Monday by the German media Der Spiegel: "The embarrassing spectacle of Pedro Sánchez" (can be read here in open). The article trashes Sánchez and points to the following as the most likely explanation for his farce:

Sanchez raised a smoke screen to avoid an embarrassing debate about his wife's business affairs and instead expose his opponents' dirty methods to the public. But one way or another, one thing is certain: Sánchez has turned Spanish politics into a soap opera over the past five days. The strange spectacle harmed him and his charge; he was unworthy of a prime minister.

It compares his performance to that of a capricious teenager

Der Spiegel points out that <"many Spaniards remembered the whims of a teenager who, furious, locks himself in the children's room". Furthermore, the text comments:

On Monday morning, Sanchez even drove to the king to inform him of his decision. One would have liked to be present in this strange conversation, Sanchez himself must have felt stupid: Your Majesty, I He had proposed resigning. Now I'll stay. See you later!

After commenting on Sánchez's victimist speech pointing out the opposition, the media and the judges, Der Spiegel warns: "Sanchez's concern for civilized discourse would be more credible if he had not plunged the country into a crisis of government, to then announce in a brief statement that everything would remain the same, without asking questions. Resignation or not, Sánchez could have settled it with himself. Instead, he created the instability himself."

Sánchez's farce and the problem it has uncovered in the PSOE

On the other hand, the German media points out something that some Spanish media have also pointed out: this matter has served to make the PSOE begin to realize that Sánchez has no successor and they are tied to him as a suicide to a large stone at the edge of a pier. Der Spiergel comments on it like this:

The drama also reveals the extent to which Sánchez has tailored his party to suit him. For days, Socialists begged their party leader not to resign. “Pedro, stay!” His deputy, María Jesús Montero, shouted at him. It didn't seem like her word had much weight.

Without Sánchez, as has become clear these days, his party is left with nothing. There is no natural successornor serious contradiction. Only Sánchez determines the course of the game. For a long time he was very smart about that. Now, for the first time, one has the feeling that this could soon become a problem for Spanish social democracy.

Der Spiegel is a center-left media outlet that had defended Sánchez

This is not said by a center-right media outlet like Die Welt. Der Spiegel is a center-left media outlet and one of the most influential people in Germany and the European Union. It also happens that the article is signed by Steffen Lüdke, the media's expert for Spain. Maybe now the Spanish left will try to discredit him, but Lüdke has been cited by media related to the Sánchez government when he dedicated himself to criticizing the Spanish opposition .

In fact, in November 2023 that same German journalist supported Sánchez from Der Spiegel, defending him from criticism from the Popular Party and Vox after the announcement of the amnesty law as payment for the support of the separatists for the re-election of the socialist leader. The harsh rebuke from that center-left media demonstrates the extent to which Sánchez's farce has turned against him, no matter how much the media sycophants he has in Spain, showered with public money, try to convince their readers otherwise.

---

Image: RTVE.

The president of the government of Spain has personality traits that include Machiavellianism, and that gives rise to confusion.

[10720
21798,693,2721,21797
post-55695","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-communication","tag-der-spiegel","tag-psoe","tag-pedro-sanchez-castejon","tag-steffen-ludke
