{"id":56286,"date":"2024-06-20T18:39:09","date_gmt":"2024-06-20T16:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=56286"},"modified":"2026-06-20T00:11:27","modified_gmt":"2026-06-19T22:11:27","slug":"what-minister-urtasun-voted-for-when-the-eu-condemned-the-crimes-of-communism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/06\/20\/what-minister-urtasun-voted-for-when-the-eu-condemned-the-crimes-of-communism\/","title":{"rendered":"What Minister Urtasun voted for when the EU condemned the crimes of communism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 19, 2019, the European Parliament passed a resolution condemning the crimes of communism and Nazism.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/10\/21\/spain-a-totalitarian-law-that-hides-the-war-crimes-of-the-left-comes-into-force\/\">Spain: a totalitarian law that hides the war crimes of the left comes into force<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2021\/03\/26\/spanish-parliament-refuses-to-condemn-the-crimes-of-nazism-and-communism\/\">Spanish Parliament refuses to condemn the crimes of Nazism and Communism<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>That resolution, RC-B9-0097\/2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/TA-9-2019-0021_EN.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">can be read here<\/a>), stated the following: <em>\"<strong>the Nazi and communist regimes carried out mass murders, genocide and deportations<\/strong> and caused a loss of life and freedom in the 20th century on a scale unseen in human history.\"<\/em> <strong>This resolution was approved by 535 votes in favor, 66 against and 52 abstentions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/PV-9-2019-09-19-RCV_FR.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The result of the vote can be seen here<\/a> (PDF, page 24). As anyone can see, <strong>among the MEPs who voted against was Ernest Urtasun<\/strong>, who represented the far-left coalition Iniciativa per Catalunya Verds.. <strong>Today Urtasun is the Minister of Culture of the Pedro S\u00e1nchez government.<\/strong> Three years ago, on March 25, 2021, in the Congress of Deputies, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2021\/03\/26\/spanish-parliament-refuses-to-condemn-the-crimes-of-nazism-and-communism\/\">that government voted against a conviction of the crimes of communism<\/a> that requested ratification in Spain of the aforementioned resolution approved by the European Parliament in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>This Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ernesturtasun\/status\/1803728936368517225\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Urtasun has announced that the government will request the extinction of the Francisco Franco Foundation<\/a> <strong>appealing to the law of \"democratic memory\"<\/strong>, a memory that Urtasun did not apply to the victims of communism five years ago, when he voted against the European resolution that condemned the crimes against them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Spanish left is not bothered that Franco was a dictator, but that he was not a communist dictator<\/strong>.
