Thirteen days. That is the time that has passed since the last electoral fraud by Nicol\u00e1s Maduro in Venezuela to perpetuate himself in power.<\/p>\n
A week ago I published an article here<\/a> asking what Pedro S\u00e1nchez and Ursula Von der Leyen were waiting for to speak out about Venezuela. To date, S\u00e1nchez has not posted a single message on his Twitter account about that sister country.<\/strong> The reason is obvious: Maduro is a socialist and so is S\u00e1nchez. This Monday, S\u00e1nchez issued a lukewarm statement on Venezuela<\/a> that has only served to give Maduro more time<\/strong> to continue murdering, kidnapping and torturing democrats in Venezuela.<\/p>\n However, Von der Leyen has not dedicated a single Twitter message or a statement to Venezuela<\/strong>. It is as if the suffering that Venezuelan democrats are enduring matters little or nothing to her. In this time, the Maduro regime has already killed 24 people and arrested more than 1,100,<\/a> including more than 100 teenagers and 16 disabled people,<\/a> according to data published yesterday by the Penakl Forum.<\/p>\n Unlike S\u00e1nchez, Von der Leyen is a member of the European People's Party (EPP)<\/strong>, a party that declares itself centrist. In Germany, the President of the European Commission is a member of the CDU, a party that declares itself Christian Democrat. The EPP is allied with the socialists in the European institutions and this alliance seems to have a contagion effect<\/strong>, whereby these centrists end up supporting policies very similar to those of the socialists. In the last legislature, Von der Leyen led a persecution against the conservative governments of Poland and Hungary<\/strong>, even censuring them for their rejection of abortion and the imposition of gender ideology in schools.<\/p>\n Von der Leyen disguised this ideological persecution as a defence of the rule of law, a lie that has been exposed in the case of Poland<\/a>, a country in which the President of the Commission has lifted the sanctions imposed on the previous government, without the new government (formed by the Polish partners of the EPP and the socialists) having changed a single law and while it is dedicated to committing all kinds of of accidents<\/a>.<\/p>\n But when it comes to Venezuela\u2019s socialist dictatorship, Von der Leyen is silent.<\/strong> When it comes to taking a stand on international politics, the Commission President has become as socialist as her allies. In fact, in the five years she has been on Twitter<\/strong>, Von der Leyen has not mentioned Cuba even once<\/a> and she has only mentioned Venezuela once<\/a>, in 2020, to highlight the work of humanitarian workers.
