A comprehensive national defence exercise called \"Namejs 2024\" is taking place in Latvia from 3 September to 8 October.<\/p>\n

The exchange of light weapons between soldiers from Spain and Poland in Latvia<\/a><\/rel>
\nThe Spanish Army parades in R\u0113zekne on the anniversary of Latvia's independence<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n

This exercise involves Latvian air and ground assets and the involvement of military and civilian personnel from that Baltic country<\/strong>, including the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Latvian Land Forces, the Security Command, the Latvian Air Force, the Military Police, the State Police, the Border Guard, the State Fire and Rescue Service and the Emergency Medical Service.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

NATO's Multinational Brigade deployed in that country is also participating in this exercise,<\/strong> including the Spanish Army, which is providing various armoured vehicles to this operation: Leopard 2E tanks, ASCOD Pizarro infantry fighting vehicles, M-113 VCZ sapper combat vehicles and M-109 self-propelled howitzers.<\/p>\n

This Thursday, the Latvian Army has published an extensive series of photos from this exercise<\/a> which were taken today by their excellent photographer, Gatis Indr\u0113vics<\/a>, at the \u0100da\u017ei training ground. You can see some of these photos in this article, including the ones he took of Spanish armoured vehicles in action.<\/p>\n
