{"id":57237,"date":"2024-09-27T23:25:24","date_gmt":"2024-09-27T21:25:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=57237"},"modified":"2025-09-27T00:12:59","modified_gmt":"2025-09-26T22:12:59","slug":"the-ruins-of-the-colossal-secret-explosives-factory-of-the-third-reich-in-krzystkowice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/09\/27\/the-ruins-of-the-colossal-secret-explosives-factory-of-the-third-reich-in-krzystkowice\/","title":{"rendered":"The ruins of the colossal secret explosives factory of the Third Reich in Krzystkowice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To feed its military machinery, the Third Reich built a network of large weapons and explosives factories.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/05\/30\/semipalatinsk-a-top-secret-site-that-withstood-456-soviet-atomic-tests\/\">Semipalatinsk, a top secret site that withstood 456 Soviet atomic tests<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/02\/19\/chilling-ruins-the-remains-of-the-berghof-the-hitlers-house-in-the-bavarian-alps\/\">Chilling ruins: the remains of the Berghof, the Hitler's house in the Bavarian Alps<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>One of them was the <strong>Alfred Nobel Dynamit Aktien-Gesellschaft<\/strong> (Alfred Nobel Dynamite Joint-Stock Company), commonly known as DAG Alfred Nobel. <strong>This factory was built near the German town of Christianstadt,<\/strong> which became part of Poland in 1945, its current name being Krzystkowice, in the Lubusz Voivodeship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The construction of this factory began in 1939 in the utmost secrecy.<\/strong> This plant was used to manufacture explosives and ammunition, although the details of its production are currently unknown, as no documentation has been preserved on it. <strong>The factory, managed by the German company IG Farben, occupied an area of \u200b\u200b35 square kilometers,<\/strong> and its extension was conveniently camouflaged with trees to avoid Allied bombings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This plant, which was under strict guard, employed many slave labourers<\/strong> from the nearby Gross Rosen concentration camp. <strong>These prisoners faced very dangerous work<\/strong>, not only because of accidental explosions, but also because of the use of toxic and corrosive substances. In 1945, in response to the advance of the Red Army, <strong>the Germans dismantled part of its facilities<\/strong>.
