During the Cold War, fear of nuclear, chemical or biological warfare led to the construction of many shelters in many countries.<\/p>\n
In Hungary<\/strong>, the communist dictatorship imposed by Stalin after World War II made it mandatory to include shelters in its basements from 1950 onwards<\/strong>, under the BGS programme, which stands for \"Bomba-G\u00e1z-Szil\u00e1nk\" (Bomb, Gas and Shrapnel). In addition, there were bunkers dedicated to medical facilities<\/strong>, such as the Szikla K\u00f3rh\u00e1z (Rock Hospital)<\/a>, a secret facility located beneath the Buda Castle district in the country's capital, which is now a museum.<\/p>\n A few months ago, a Youtube channel dedicated to urban exploration, Aghorn & Louis<\/a>, posted an interesting video showing an abandoned bunker full of medical supplies in Hungary<\/strong>. From what the two explorers show, the bunker seems to have been built in Budapest in the 1960s<\/strong> and to have remained active until less than two decades ago, judging by the abandoned material there (the video is in French, you can activate automatic subtitles in English in the bottom bar of the player):<\/p>\n
