On September 26, Hurricane Helene hit the coast of Florida in the United States with wind gusts of up to 220 kilometers per hour.<\/p>\n

As it passed through the United States, Hurricane Helene has left more than 200 dead and hundreds missing<\/a>, making it the most devastating meteorological phenomenon to hit the country since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Most of the deaths occurred in North Carolina<\/strong>, a state that has been particularly damaged.<\/p>\n

Evidence of this damage is what happened in Chimney Rock,<\/strong> a town of 140 inhabitants in North Carolina, located next to Chimney Rock State Park, known for a large granite monolith. It was a small, peaceful town with a beautiful setting, until Hurricane Helene hit on September 27.<\/strong> The fall of water was so strong that the Broad River overflowed its banks, destroying the town, the neighboring town of Lake Lure and the road that runs through them.<\/p>\n

As if these misfortunes were not enough, some unscrupulous people have been spreading hoaxes on social networks<\/strong>, claiming that the authorities intended to demolish the entire town and saying that there were many corpses dumped in the area. Mark Huneycutt<\/a> has published a video touring the place<\/strong>, showing the damage caused by Helene and also refuting these hoaxes:<\/p>\n
