The leftist discourse on immigration is full of contradictions, as has been seen, once again, in the United States.<\/p>\n
Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat, yesterday referred to Columbus Day as \"Indigenous Peoples' Day.\"<\/a> Remember, Columbus Day was instituted in the United States in 1934 to honor the discoverer of America. Harris shares leftist phobias to hilarious extremes<\/strong>, hence her alignment with the \"indigenist\" far left.<\/p>\n In the midst of the US presidential election campaign, some have recalled these words spoken by Harris on October 12, 2021<\/a>:<\/p>\n \"Since 1934, every October, the United States has recognized the voyage of the European explorers who first landed on the shores of the Americas<\/strong>. But that is not the whole story. That has never been the whole story. Those explorers ushered in a wave of devastation for Tribal nations \u2014 perpetrating violence, stealing land, and spreading disease.<\/strong>\"<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n These statements by Harris have gone viral on social media again<\/strong> and have also made the rounds in the media again. Obviously, abuses were committed during the conquest of America, but if Harris wants to celebrate \"indigenous peoples\" in this way, she will have to remember the abuses of indigenous peoples as well<\/strong>, not only against European explorers and settlers, but also against other indigenous peoples. Land theft and violence were very common among the peoples of pre-Columbian America<\/strong>, and I say this because some seem to believe that at that time America was something like a hippie camp where everyone sang together and loved each other very much.<\/p>\n On the other hand, Harris's accusation that European explorers spread disease is shocking. Today, anyone who accuses foreigners of spreading disease is branded as \"xenophobic\" by the left<\/strong>, which systematically ignores the health risks posed by illegal immigration.<\/p>\n However, the same left criticizes people for carrying diseases when their mode of transmission was not even well known<\/strong>, as was the case during the time of the conquest of America. In fact, the extreme left has been accusing Spain of committing a \"genocide\" in America with that same argument<\/a>.<\/p>\n This is not the only such contradiction in leftist discourse. Imagine for a moment what would happen if someone in Europe proposed celebrating our \"indigenous peoples\"<\/strong>, in a sort of gesture of rejection of the people who have been entering Europe over the past few centuries. The left, both in Europe and in the US, labels many as \"fascists\" for less than that.<\/strong><\/p>\n At the same time, the Left calls the Jews of Israel \"settlers\"<\/strong>, referring to those who have been able to return to the land of their ancestors (a land inhabited by Jews for three millennia) or remains silent in the face of racist violence against white farmers in South Africa<\/a>, in the belief that the Middle East should only be for Muslims<\/strong> (whose current presence is due to a long succession of wars of conquest<\/a>) and Africa should only be for Africans<\/strong>. But if someone rejects the massive influx of Muslims and Africans into Europe, the left labels him a xenophobe.
