The Popular Party has once again forgotten its commitments to share the board of directors of Spanish National Television with S\u00e1nchez and his allies.<\/p>\n
The PP had proposed a public competition and had asked for \"independence\" for RTVE<\/big><\/p>\n
In June 2018, the Popular Party and Ciudadanos had signed an agreement to elect the RTVE leadership by public competition<\/a>. A year later, in August 2019, the PP stated that it was urgent for RTVE to \"regain its independence\"<\/a>. In May 2020 the PP accused the Government<\/a> of \"subjecting independent institutions<\/strong> such as the Prosecutor's Office, the CIS, the Civil Guard or public radio and television<\/strong><\/em> to its partisan interest\"<\/strong><\/em>. Likewise, on October 22, during the debate on Vox's motion of censure against Pedro S\u00e1nchez, Pablo Casado stated \"The rule of law is not to occupy institutions, neither the CNI nor RTVE\".<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n The PP forgets what it said and shares RTVE with PSOE, Podemos and PNV<\/big><\/p>\n Once again, as has happened on so many occasions, the words of the PP have been carried away by the wind. Today, Congress approved the new RTVE board with the votes of PSOE, PP, Podemos and PNV.<\/a> The four parties will have representatives on the board of the public broadcaster:<\/strong> \"According to socialist sources, the renewal agreement also includes the PNV and Unidas Podemos\"<\/em>, Europa Press points out<\/a>. This agency points out that the new president of the RTVE board will be Jos\u00e9 Manuel P\u00e9rez Tornero, \"the fifth-place finisher in the public competition to elect the RTVE Board.\"<\/em> In other words, the PP and the PSOE are skipping the competition that the PP itself proposed<\/strong> to direct the public entity.<\/p>\n Vox and Ciudadanos oppose the agreement<\/big><\/p>\n Vox and Ciudadanos have distanced themselves from this agreement<\/a>, accusing the PP of sharing RTVE with the PSOE, Podemos and the PNV. In this morning's plenary session, Vox MP Manuel Mariscal<\/a> pointed out: \"The elections are over and consensus returns. The consensus between the Popular Party and the Socialist Party so that everything remains the same.\"<\/em><\/strong> Speaking from the Congress tribune, Mariscal added: \"In a few days they will share out the judges\"<\/em><\/strong> - in reference to the negotiation between the PP and the PSOE on the General Council of the Judiciary - \"and today they intend to share out Televisi\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola.\"<\/em><\/strong> In addition, the Vox MP has accused the PP, PSOE, Podemos and PNV of choosing their representatives in the council of RTVE \"so that they can be political commissioners.\"<\/em> \"We will be the opposition to Spanish Television, which is currently being negotiated by the PP, the PSOE and Podemos\"<\/em>, announced Mariscal.<\/p>\n
